Ethan Carter caught her hand, grinning. “Hey, what can I say? All for keeping Mrs. Carter around.”

Olivia Bennett’s lips curled in a smile. Remembering the others waiting outside, she let go of the teasing. “Come on, let’s not keep Grandma and everyone waiting.”

By the time they got to the dining room, Lily George and the rest had already settled in.

Beatty waved cheerfully, patting the empty seat next to her. “Olivia, sit here!”

Two spots had been saved—clearly for them.

Olivia and Ethan sat down together.

It wasn’t until Lily George spoke up that everyone around the table picked up their forks and started eating.

Damian Franklin reached over and put a helping of roasted vegetables onto Beatty’s plate. Instantly, Beatty scooped up some mashed potatoes and placed them on Olivia’s plate.

Olivia glanced at her, amused. Beatty explained, “Damian says this is really good.”

“Thanks.”

Olivia smiled back, trying the potatoes. “He’s right. They’re delicious.”

Beatty’s eyes crinkled with delight.

Dinner was warm, filled with laughter and easy conversation.

After the meal, everyone gathered in the living room.

Lily George turned to Damian, all straightforward concern. “Lance mentioned what’s going on between you and Beatty. Did you make everything clear to Olivia?”

Damian nodded. “We talked. Thank you all for looking after Olivia these past weeks.”

He’d always noticed how kind they were to Olivia, but this was the first time he’d openly said it.

Olivia looked up at him, her eyes shining.

Lily smiled gently. “Olivia’s family. That’s just how it is. No need to thank us.”

She paused, then added, “I’m getting on in years. There’s a lot I can’t do on my own anymore. If you ever need anything, just talk to Lance or Ethan. Don’t be shy. We’re family—no need for formalities.”

Damian got the message. “I understand. Thank you, Lily.”

Lily let out a soft sigh, thinking of everything they’d been through. “The hard times are behind us. From here on out, it’s all good days.”

Damian glanced at Beatty and Olivia, his gaze gentle.
