"Yeah," Adelina Lane said, her voice rising. "It's him. Daniel Gill."
Ethan Carter narrowed his eyes dangerously. "What about him?"
"I’m not sure exactly what happened," Adelina said, her expression tense. "When I got there, I just saw Olivia give him a shove from across the room. Watch out—he’s probably still bothering her."
Ethan’s gaze darkened, his eyes flashing cold as ice.
Adelina figured she’d said her piece and didn’t want to interrupt his work any longer. She stood up. "I’ll get going. Just… keep this in mind, okay?"
"I will."
She trusted Ethan, always had.
With a nod, she left.
The spacious office fell quiet. Ethan leaned back on the leather sofa, absently tapping his fingers against the armrest. He looked calm—maybe too calm. No one could guess what was on his mind.
——
Sunset painted the sky with streaks of red and gold.
Olivia Bennett glanced at the group of women crowded around the living room sofa, chatting away like a flock of birds. She raised an eyebrow. "Aren’t you guys heading home?"
Helen Adams bounced excitedly. "Bonnie’s got a blind date tonight! We’re helping her get ready."
Olivia strolled over, eyeing Bonnie Main, who was surrounded by friends. Usually brash and outgoing, Bonnie actually looked a little shy for once.
Olivia grinned. "If she lands her date, you all deserve some of the credit."
Helen giggled, pulling Olivia over. "Olivia, you do Bonnie’s eyes! The makeup you did for that client last week was amazing—Davina was just saying so."
Davina Ford chimed in, "Seriously, I’ve been wanting to pick up some tips. Show us your magic, Ms. Bennett!"
Fannie Parker laughed, "I want to learn too!"
Helen raised her hand, "Count me in!"
