Helen Adams and Bonnie Main stopped in their tracks at the same moment.
Helen flashed Bonnie a sheepish grin. “Sorry, Bonnie, almost forgot what we were actually here for.”
Davina Ford straightened up, her tone turning businesslike. “Ms. Bennett, it’s your turn for eye makeup.”
There was laughter all around; the teasing faded out as quickly as it had flared.
Olivia Bennett didn’t protest—she knew when to accept a compliment gracefully. Picking up the eyeshadow palette, she applied a look that suited her features perfectly.
Predictably, the group showered her with praise.
Not that Olivia was paying them much mind; her hands kept moving, and their chatter never stopped.
“Alright, enough,” she said, rolling her eyes. “You keep this up and I’ll float away with all the compliments.”
She set down the palette. “I’m done—your turn now.”
Helen’s smile hadn’t faded for a second. Glancing toward the door, her eyes suddenly lit up. “Olivia, Ethan’s here!”
Olivia turned, spotting the familiar black sedan out front.
Ethan Carter was leaning casually against the car, watching the doorway.
The golden light of sunset outlined his tall frame, making him look even more striking than usual.
Even from a distance, Olivia could feel his gaze settle on her with pinpoint accuracy.
A small smile played at her lips as she turned to her friends. “I’m heading out. Good luck with your date tonight, Bonnie.”
The others snapped out of their daze, waving her off and calling their goodbyes.
As the door closed behind Olivia, the room erupted.
“Was that really Ms. Bennett’s husband? Oh my god, he’s more swoon-worthy than any of the CEOs in those romance miniseries,” Davina gushed, hands pressed to her cheeks.
Helen snorted. “Please. Those TV bosses have nothing on him. He’s even hotter than my favorite actor.”
