From a Wrong Turn to Mr. Right novel Chapter 93

Olivia Bennett quickly shook her head. “No, of course not. You’re welcome anytime.”

Adelina Lane’s face lit up with a warm smile. “Then it’s settled. But you can’t overdo it—no missing meals, but no spoiling yourself every day either. I’ll have the chef whip up something tasty for you every few days.”

At this point, Olivia Bennett didn’t have any reason to refuse anymore. She replied softly, “Thank you, Mom.”

That one word—Mom—made Adelina Lane absolutely beam.

She chuckled happily, opened up the insulated container, and pushed it toward Olivia. “Try today’s soup. You and Ethan are first-time parents, so there’s a lot you might not know. If you have any questions, just ask me.”

She smiled playfully. “I know you probably thought I was just being polite when I said this before. But you believe me now, right?”

She looked at Olivia, her eyes sparkling with good humor.

Olivia felt a little awkward.

Before, she’d only seen Adelina Lane as a kind stranger. No matter the reason, she couldn’t imagine actually asking her for advice—she’d just smiled and nodded politely.

Now that Adelina had pointed it out, Olivia felt slightly embarrassed.

To ease her own discomfort, she nodded gently. “I’ll be bothering you from now on, Mom.”

Adelina laughed. “You’re always so polite, Elaine. Always a thank you here, a sorry for the trouble there.”

Olivia pressed her lips together, her eyes flickering.

Since her grandmother passed away, she hadn’t really spent much time around older family. If Adelina Lane were just a guest, Olivia would have felt relaxed and at ease.

But now she was family, and Olivia suddenly didn’t know how to act.

She dropped her gaze. “I just… don’t want to be a bother.”

Adelina looked at her, noticing her cautious expression. Remembering Olivia’s past, she felt a pang of tenderness.

She took Olivia’s hand in both of hers. “You call me Mom, so I am your mom now. Who else should you bother, if not me? I wish you would! If you and Ethan both kept your distance, I’d be miserable.”

A gentle warmth bloomed in Olivia’s heart. She looked up and saw Adelina gazing at her with nothing but kindness.
