Harriet thought, In the end, Zaden didn’t tell Athena that helping her was entirely his idea. Somehow, he shifted all the credit to me instead.
What should have been a perfect “hero saves the damsel” moment turned into a story of a helpful friend stepping in.
Of course, Athena isn’t happy!
Sigh. I really don’t know what to say to Zaden.
Does he have feelings for her or not?
It’s like watching someone panic while the person who should care just sits back and relaxes!
After leaving Athena’s place, Bridget returned home.
Lewis was slouched in the shadows of the living room. As soon as he saw her, he asked, “You went to see Athena?”
Bridget’s temper flared instantly.
She dropped onto the couch with a scowl, sneering, “Yes! I went to Athena and asked her to speak to Mr. Barton so he’d let the Belmonts off the hook.”
Then she added bitterly, “You still don’t know, do you? Athena is actually living with Zaden!
“She’s latched onto him. No wonder she divorced you and refuses to get back together. If Zaden hadn’t stepped in this time, the Belmonts wouldn’t have ended up in such a mess.”
Lewis froze. “Wait… what did you say? She’s living with Zaden?”
“That’s right! His daughter is staying with her too. We were unlucky this time, but the matter’s over now. From here on, don’t go to her again.”
Lewis shot up from the couch. “No! Athena is my wife!”
Bridget nearly lost her mind.
She wanted to strangle her own son.
She had just barely managed to smooth things over, finally feeling a little relief, and now Lewis was acting crazy again!

If he tangled with Zaden again, this situation would never end.
Her body trembled as she jabbed a finger at him. “Sit down!
“I’m warning you–don’t go after Athena again. We’re lucky things got sorted out this time. Your grandpa is furious with you. If you want the Belmonts to have a future, you’d better calm yourself!
“What you need to focus on now is winning your grandpa’s favor.”
Defeated, Lewis slumped back onto the couch.
Athena is dating another man. Does she really feel nothing for me anymore?
No. That can’t be. Athena couldn’t have moved on that easily.
I’ve checked at the hospital. Zaden’s daughter was kidnapped and suffered serious psychological trauma. Athena’s just caring for her because she’s a doctor.
With that in mind, Lewis felt a surge of confidence.
I’ve been with Athena for years. I know her well enough.
There’s no way she’s truly let
go of me.
That means I still have a chance.
Athena’s troubles were finally behind her.
Her mood lifted, and her time with Teri became noticeably brighter.
She decided to celebrate properly, but her hand was still injured, so cooking was out. She bought ready–made food instead.
Since Harriet had helped her so much this time, Athena invited her over.
As soon as Harriet arrived, she immediately clung to Athena’s side, prattling on about Zaden, showering him with praise. The message was clear: If it hadn’t been for Zaden, this crisis would never have been resolved so quickly.
Athena had no choice but to thank him again.
She even picked out several pieces of meat for him.

Watching Zaden’s cold, impassive face, Harriet couldn’t take it any longer. She kicked him under the table. Athena is making an effort–what is he doing, just sitting there?
Zaden glanced at her coolly, then placed a piece of meat on Athena’s plate.
Athena froze for a moment, then lowered her head. “Thank you,” she murmured.
Harriet rested her chin in her hand, satisfied. A small smile tugged at her lips. Now that’s more like it.
