Athena took another look at this couple. Whether it was her imagination or not, they seemed more complex than they appeared. She needed to be on guard against them in case they tried to stir up trouble.

Come to think of it, it was strange. She didn’t seem to know these two people at all.

Why would they specifically target her?

Everyone waited a while longer. All the other families were already here. Only Lewis’s family hadn’t arrived.

No one knew how much longer they’d have to wait.

Thomas couldn’t help himself. He curiously asked the team leader, “Ronan, the Belmont family isn’t here. Don’t they know our summer camp activities are starting today?”

Ronan frowned. “I sent everyone a message last night, and you all replied that you received it. There’s no way they wouldn’t know.”

As he spoke, Lewis, Nina, and Dion appeared.

They looked like they hadn’t fought at all. Dion was even holding Nina’s hand. The mother and son appeared intimate and harmonious.

When Dion passed by Athena, he couldn’t help but glance at her.

Would Mommy be jealous that he was holding another mommy’s hand?

But Athena had a smile on her lips. She was looking down talking to Teri. Her attention wasn’t on Dion at all. Or maybe she simply didn’t care.

Dion felt a bit sulky.

His bottom lip stuck out a mile.

Seeing everyone had arrived, Ronan smiled. “Alright, everyone’s here now. We can officially start the camp activities. Is everyone ready?”

“Ready!” everyone responded in unison.

The summer camp was mainly about strengthening parent–child bonds. So the first activity centered on this theme. Ronan led everyone to a nearby swimming pool about 330 feet long.

The water in the pool wasn’t too deep, about waist–high on an adult.

Ronan announced to the group, “Alright, next up, cach Dad gets to carry Mom across the swimming pool!”

He briefly explained the rules.

“The goal is to finish with the shortest time. Here’s how it works. The Dad has to carry the Mom across the pool as fast as possible. On the other side, he grabs a balloon and brings it back. Then he switches to carrying the child and races to the finish line.”

While it sounded simple, it was an extreme test of each father’s physical strength.

After all, they had to make two trips. As fast as possible.

Each family’s starting order was determined by the children drawing lots. Athena drew first place. She felt cursed with bad luck.

Seeing Athena looking a bit down, Zaden said, “Don’t worry. We can take first place. Right, Teri?”

Standing on the shore, Teri nodded repeatedly.

Yes, they could definitely take first place!

Zaden took off his jacket and placed it on a nearby chair. Then he jumped into the pool. He looked up at Athena, “Hop on.”

Athena carefully climbed onto his back.

Her hands rested on Zaden’s shoulders. “Zaden, let’s just do our best. Don’t push too hard. This is all about having fun.”

Athena wasn’t competitive at all.

She was worried Zaden might get hurt. She specifically reminded him.

Zaden gripped her thighs tightly. He said in a low voice, “Ready?”

“Yeah.” Athena held on tight.

Ronan timed them from the shore. At his signal, Zaden carried Athena through the pool. Water
