Chapter 187 Checking In
Athena must’ve twisted her ankle when Tommy had dragged her earlier.
Zaden noticed immediately. Without saying a word, he walked over and scooped her up.
She yelped in surprise, then quickly wrapped her arms around his neck.

Zaden didn’t bother explaining anything. He just started heading down the mountain with her in his arms.
“Zaden … maybe you should put me down,” she said awkwardly.
“Don’t move. Otherwise, we’re both going to tumble down,” he replied.
She froze instantly and let him carry her, even though she was a bit embarrassed. She figured he’d be exhausted.
In the end, she stopped struggling and just let him carry her down.
By the time they were halfway down, darkness had settled over the mountain. Athena held the flashlight for him while he walked steadily, guiding them down.
Tommy followed behind, silently observing.
He muttered inwardly, Looks like Mr. Storm really likes Ms. Hall. Otherwise, he won’t do something like this.
He’d never seen Zaden so close to a woman since that whole thing with Maya.
Athena was clearly the only one allowed near Zaden.
Thinking about it, Tommy snickered. It looked like Zaden was about to win Athena over soon.
Eventually, they reached the bottom.
Zaden set Athena down and said, “We’ll stay here tonight and head back tomorrow.”
She nodded, realizing it wasn’t safe to travel at night. “Okay.”
The town wasn’t well–lit, and places to eat or stay were scarce. Even if there were choices, none of them were very good.
Athena assumed it would take a while to find somewhere decent. But Zaden led them straight to a three–story building.

Tommy noticed that and explained, “Ms. Hall, this town has a well–known church. People come here to light candles, and this is the best hotel nearby.”
Athena nodded, finally understanding.
At the reception, the receptionist apologized, “Sorry, all rooms are booked tonight. Only one double room left.”
Athena frowned. She hadn’t expected a hotel in such a small town to be so popular.
Tommy whispered, “Mr. Storm, it’s almost the first day of the month. Lots of people will come to the church, so rooms will probably be full for a few days. What should we do?”
Zaden paused, thinking.
They could try driving back to Vlephia tonight, but nighttime travel wasn’t safe.
Athena noticed the hesitation on Zaden’s face and realized he was worried about her.
She said, “Let’s just manage for one night. It’s not safe to drive in the dark. We can leave in the morning.”
Tommy felt a little guilty. “Ms. Hall, I’m sorry. How about I sleep in Mr. Storm’s car, and you two take the room?”
Athena felt a bit awkward. She had actually imagined all three of them squeezing into one
room.
“Mr. Croft, that doesn’t feel right.”
Zaden gave Tommy a hint and told Athena, “Just take him up on the offer. Maybe he forgot his
ID.”
Tommy nodded quickly. “Yeah, I forgot my ID. I’ll sleep in the car. You two take the room!”
Athena hesitated again. “But I didn’t bring mine either.”
Zaden looked at her with soft eyes. “Don’t worry. I’ll handle it.”
Why not figure something out for Tommy, too?
Athena didn’t want to stress Zaden more since he was already in a bad mood. She stayed quiet and agreed to the plan.
