Just as the atmosphere reached the peak of awkwardness, Larry let out a couple of chuckles.
Honestly, he didn’t really care that his reputation was ruined. Since everyone was already here, and they were all single, he figured why not let them get to know each other? Maybe someone would find their match.
He looked at Athena with a meaningful smile. “Ms. Hall, what do you think of Zaden?”
Athena hadn’t expected Larry to be so direct.
She realized there was no way she could dodge this anymore.
She steadied herself and replied to Larry, “Mr. Storm is a very impressive man, but I don’t think we’re a good fit.”
Larry was surprised by Fabio’s disapproval–he hadn’t expected that. But what really caught him off guard was that even Athena seemed unimpressed with Zaden.
If it weren’t for Zaden not being interested in his own daughter, he would have happily made Zaden his son–in–law already.
He glanced at Zaden and said with genuine intent, “Zaden, looks like your prospects aren’t great tonight. Maybe we should just keep things simple. How about you consider my daughter?”
Athena gave Zaden a quick glance.
She knew Zaden was in high demand, and it was clear many people were interested in him. She felt a little better, knowing that after she left, Zaden would have no problem finding someone else.
Larry’s background and connections were impressive.
If Zaden agreed to marry his daughter, it would definitely be a good match.
Catching Athena’s glance, Zaden quietly reminded Larry, “Mr. Barton, a promise is a promise.”
Only then did Larry remember Zaden had asked him to help him win back his girlfriend, and now he was backpedaling.
He chuckled, trying to brush it off. “I’m just kidding. Don’t take it seriously.”
Larry quickly changed the subject to avoid any
embarrassment.
He turned to Athena and said, “Ms. Hall, I really think Zaden is a great guy. He’s already in

charge of Storm Group, which is way more impressive than those spoiled rich kids who are still living off their parents.
And his academic background is the real deal. He graduated from a top university–nothing like those trust fund kids who just pay for fancy diplomas. A man like that is a real catch.
“You really ought to give him some thought.”
Athena felt like Larry would make a great matchmaker. He seemed determined to pair her up with Zaden, but she had already made up her mind. There was no going back for her and Zaden.
Mr. Barton, thank you for your kindness, but after my divorce, I don’t plan to get into another relationship.
Larry wanted to say more, but Zaden stopped him.
Athena had already turned him down several times–pushing any further would only put her in a difficult spot.
Catching Zaden’s look, Larry just laughed and quickly moved on, leaving Athena relieved they were finally letting her off the hook.
She had already wanted to leave before Larry and Zaden’s arrival. With Zaden here now, she was even more anxious to get out.
“I just remembered there is something I have to take care of, so I’ll be heading out first.”
With that, Athena grabbed her bag and left.
At that moment, Kit stood up and said, “I’ll walk Athena out.”
“Mr. Rice, isn’t today’s event all about you?” Zaden looked at him and added quietly, “If you leave now, what happens to the rest of this event?”
Kit found himself at a loss. He hadn’t expected to trap himself with his own words.
But he couldn’t let Athena leave by herself, could he?
He was just about to snap back when Zaden got to his feet. “I’ll walk Ms. Hall out.”
He didn’t wait for anyone to respond. He just left the room.
It was only then that people started to realize Zaden must have come here for Athena. His eyes had been on her the entire time. Now that she was gone, he’d chased after her.
Fabio’s expression grew serious as he turned to Kit and asked quietly, “What’s going on between
