The article painted Lewis and Nina as lovers torn apart for years, struggling painfully with their feelings.
But then Athena supposedly got used to being Mrs. Belmont and even though she took the money, she didn’t want to leave Lewis. She wanted their fake marriage to become real.
Every word made Athena out to be the villain blocking Lewis and Nina’s true love.
The comments were even worse, filled with awful insults.
Athena glanced through the false report and instantly knew who was behind it. Clearly, Nina was trying to wash herself clean after her own scandals, pushing all the dirt onto her.
But Athena decided to just ignore it. All she needed to do was wait for the divorce hearing.
A moment later, Harriet sent another furious message.
“Athena, have you seen the online comments? They’re so disgusting! How dare they call you the third party between Lewis and Nina? Those two are the shameless ones!”
“I even have proof that Nina was the real mistress! If I post it, she’ll be ruined!”
Athena was about to reply when her phone rang. A strange number.
She frowned. Had her number been leaked to reporters?
She hesitated, then slid to answer.
“Athena.”
It was Lewis!
His husky voice on the phone made Athena focus.
Athena nearly hung up the moment she heard his voice, but instead she said coldly, “Lewis, that’s enough! Let’s just end things nicely. There’s no need to make a mess. What do you gain by having Nina spread lies about me online?”
Silence on the other end.
Then, Lewis said in a low voice, “I had nothing to do with that.”
Athena laughed coldly. “It really has nothing to do with you? You and Nina are desperate to be together right now. It wouldn’t surprise me if you did this.”

“Athena, don’t you believe me? I said it wasn’t me!”
Athena scoffed. “Do you think you deserve my trust?”
“You’re angry because you think I killed our daughter, right?”
Athena froze. When he brought that up, the unhealed wound in her heart started to hurt again, making it hard for her to breathe.
“Our daughter isn’t dead!”
Lewis’s voice grew urgent. “She’s not dead, Athena. I swear it. If you want to know where she is, stop fighting me.”
At this point, Lewis’s voice softened. “Athena, I just made the same kind of mistake any man would make. I’ll take care of Nina and we can get back together. I’ll love you just like before.”
Her grip on the phone tightened, heart pounding wildly. He kept talking, his tone softening. But Athena couldn’t hear anything after that one line.
Getting back together with Lewis?
The thought consumed her.
“Athena, even if you sue, it won’t work unless I agree to the divorce. Let’s stop fighting, okay? Dion says you’re his real mom. You’ve raised him all these years. Does blood really matter that much? Come back home.”
His words made Athena’s stomach turn.
Without another word, she hung up.
Athena took a deep breath to calm herself down. From what Lewis said, she learned a few very important things.
First, her daughter was alive.
Lewis must have hidden her somewhere. This was his leverage.
Athena had a C–section, and she was unconscious for a long time after the surgery. It would have been easy for Lewis to switch the baby.
No one knew what he did with the child after he took her.
But she wasn’t going to let Lewis control her. She would find her daughter on her own!
