Chapter 119 Unlucky Souls in Building B
The man in front raised a gun and pointed it straight at them.
Caroline slipped her hand into her pocket, ready to pull out her gun.
Before she could, Tyler let out a cold laugh.
In the next second, he was already charging forward.
“Hey! Don’t come closer! I’ll shoot!” The man shouted, his voice shaking.

The man in front shouted at the top of his lungs, while the others behind him tried to look tough, getting into fighting stances.
Tyler didn’t stop. He moved like a wild beast charging into a herd of sheep. In just a few seconds, every one of them was on the ground.
The man with the gun hadn’t even fired a shot.
Tyler walked over and kicked the gun out of the man’s hand. He crushed it under his boot.
Caroline and Kay finally caught up; the gun was fake.
“Please, man! Don’t hurt me! Have mercy! Just this once!”
The man begged, his fake bravado gone.
The others huddled behind him, shivering.
Caroline glanced at the broken toy gun and asked, “How did you know it was fake?”
Tyler shrugged. “Looked fake.” He didn’t explain further,
Caroline narrowed her eyes but didn’t press.
These people were from Building B–what was left of them, anyway.
A bunch of unlucky souls.
Building B had mostly been used for offices.
When the acid rain came, most companies had already shut down.

But their company–the cursed one that always made them work overtime–didn’t. They’d
been stuck inside ever since.
At first, they didn’t take it seriously. The power went out, but they laughed it off, snacking on office supplies and calling it a paid vacation.
Two days later, the water stopped running. The acid rain flooded the lower floors, trapping them completely.
That’s when panic hit.
There was no way for them to leave the building.
They tried to escape, but by the time rescue boats came, they were too late. When they finally reached the meeting place, the boats were already full. The rescuers promised to come back the next day.
“But that night,” the man said, his voice cracking, “two of our brothers froze to death. We were all huddled together for warmth. I don’t even know how they just … died.”
His skin was loose and saggy–before the world ended, he must’ve been a big guy.
No one knew how he managed to survive these past weeks, but it was clear he’d lost a lot of weight.
After figuring out what had happened, Caroline and her group didn’t want to waste time arguing with them.
“We’re taking some firewood,” Caroline said flatly.
“No way! Everything in this building is ours!” the leader shouted. “If you take it, we’ll starve or freeze to death here! Absolutely not!”
Tyler shot him a sharp glare, and the man instantly quieted down.
In the end, those local bullies had no choice but to step aside and let Caroline’s group through.
Once they moved all the coal, Caroline and the others cleared out every table and chair from the conference room. They piled everything in Building A before carrying it up to the 66th floor.
With that much fuel and furniture, they could stay warm and safe for the next two or three months without needing to scavenge again.
Building B had plenty of furniture but no food. Caroline’s team searched two floors and found

nothing. It was obvious those people had hidden their supplies long ago.
But it didn’t matter; they weren’t there for food.
