Chapter 147 I’m Coming With You
In front of them stood a white, snow–covered hill.

The grain warehouse was only a few dozen yards away, buried completely under snow and looking like a row of small towers.
It was clear that there had been an avalanche here recently. Most of the snow had piled up at the base of the hill. Otherwise, finding those warehouses would’ve been nearly impossible.
Without wasting time, they had Raven pull the inflatable rescue boats while Caroline and Tyler climbed up the slope.
They soon reached the warehouse.
But just then, Raven suddenly arched his back and growled in warning toward the building.
Caroline and Tyler both stepped back.
“Well, old friend,” came a sigh from behind the warehouse. “Didn’t expect we’d meet again so
soon.”
A man stepped out.
He was wrapped tightly from head to toe, but from his exaggerated frown and that smug, greasy tone, Caroline recognized him immediately–it was Dyson Cantrell from Building B.
Two more men followed him, dressed in thick winter clothes and carrying large bags.
What shocked Caroline even more was that they had a car.
It was a modified off–road SUV, top of the line, roaring like a beast as it had arrived.
In this freezing world, most cars couldn’t even start, and the ones that could were buried under snow. Finding a working vehicle was almost impossible.
Caroline looked at Raven pulling their boats and couldn’t help feeling a little embarrassed. Their setup suddenly seemed so shabby.
Then she glanced at Tyler. My car is trashed because of that idiot.
Of course, she had a car stored in her storage space, but she couldn’t bring it out now.
Tyler caught her look but pretended not to see it, turning his head away.

Caroline rolled her eyes in frustration.

But this wasn’t the time to argue. She looked at Dyson and said, “Yeah, small world. Didn’t expect to see you here.”
She watched as Dyson’s group loaded bag after bag of food into their car, her heart aching. They’d come just a little too late.
Dyson gave a sly grin. “Don’t look like that. There’s plenty to go around. First come, first served, right?”
With that, he waved to his men to load more food into the SUV.
“Pretty lady, we’ll be coming back for the next two days. Once we know each other better, remember to call me Big D!
“Oh, and be careful out there!”
After finishing, Dyson and his two men drove off, kicking up snow behind them.
“We’d better hurry up,” Caroline said coldly.
Their plan had been to come back several times over two days to clear out the warehouses completely.
But now that Building B had shown up, it had turned into a race.
Caroline’s eyes
darted toward the six warehouses ahead.
“Let’s split up!” she said quickly.
Tyler didn’t argue; he got to work right away.
Caroline ran to the two farthest warehouses, both filled to the top with corn cobs.
The corn had frozen solid in the cold, hard as rocks to the touch.
She stored all the corn inside her storage space, then carried a bag of beans toward the boats.
He had already hauled several bags of beans himself, working silently and fast.
Compared to him, Caroline looked like she was slacking off.
After several trips, every inch of both boats was packed full, except the small space where they could sit. And that was just a tiny fraction of one warehouse’s stock.
