And not just any cockroaches–Francis said they had wings. The big ones were as long as a person’s forearm. The small ones were the size of a hand.

Caroline suddenly didn’t feel so pleased anymore.

Francis didn’t waste time. He hurried off to handle the cleanup.

He promised he’d send people to clear the bodies and blood from Caroline’s doorway.

Downstairs, Harry and Gaylord were still laughing after hearing a few gunshots from above.

Erica, however, wasn’t laughing. She was sure something bad had happened to Caroline.

She kept staring at the top floor, counting the minutes since Caroline went up.

Each time a gunshot echoed, her heart raced. Maybe one of those bullets had hit Caroline.

The more she imagined it, the more excited she became. Her whole body trembled. She wanted to rush up and see how tragic Caroline had ended up.

Harry sat in the car, smoking. He thought this might be the moment his family got their hands on another storage space.

He knew they’d lost one before–it was stolen while the family was still deciding whether to turn it in to the government.

That loss had brought them a lot of trouble.

Now he waited nervously for good news.

Instead, soldiers arrived carrying down his father’s body.

“Who killed my dad?” Harry roared, bursting out of the car.

His eyes were red as he glared at the soldiers.

He kicked one of them hard in the gut.

The soldier winced in pain, tears in his eyes, and said bitterly, “It was Caroline who fired the shot! But Colonel Sutton allowed it! Mr. Lowland, we can’t let this go!”

Harry dropped to his knees, trembling, as he pulled back the cloth covering his father.

The sight of Ambrose’s mangled body left him speechless for a long time.

After a while, he looked up. His eyes burned red, but there were no tears. “Well, Caroline and Colonel Sutton … You just drove my family to death.”

Erica gasped when she heard that. She never imagined that someone as powerful as Ambrose could be killed by Caroline.

But soon, excitement replaced shock. Caroline had messed up—big time.

She quickly walked over to Harry and said, “Mr. Lowland, Caroline’s gone too far! She had killed your father. You can’t let her get away with this!”

But before she could finish, Harry turned and slapped her so hard she fell to the ground.

Erica fell hard onto the ground. Her thin clothes tore open, and cold wind rushed in through the rip.

But she didn’t dare move.

Harry was furious.

“Haha! You want me to go up there and die too? My father didn’t make it out alive! What makes you think I would? Use your brain!”

Erica scrambled to her knees, slapping her face over and over. “I didn’t think it through, I swear! I was just angry about what happened to your family–and to you!”

Harry glared at the apartment one last time, his jaw tight. He ignored her, turned to his men, and barked, “Pack things up! We’re going home!”

With Ambrose dead, chaos was sure to break out back home.

And without the storage space, they had no idea how to explain themselves to their superiors.

Harry had to get back and take control before things spiraled further.

“Revenge can wait,” Harry growled, clenching his fists as he climbed into the truck,

The engines roared, and the group pulled away.

Erica followed. She clutched her hands so tightly her knuckles turned white. Her mind was full

of curses for Caroline.
