Chapter 227 Jet’s Love Crisis

Caroline was lost in thought about upgrading the storage space and didn’t even notice Jet talking beside her.

“Right, human?” Jet chirped.

“Uh–huh,” Caroline answered without thinking.

“Awesome! Human agreed to take me on a date!” Jet shouted excitedly.

Caroline blinked, confused. Jet was hopping around with joy, completely forgetting his injured wing.

What’s going on? What did I just agree to?

Raven, meanwhile, pulled a long face. He dragged Snow away from the couch again before she could chew on it. Please! Can’t I ever get a break?

Caroline tried to reason with Jet patiently.

“First impressions are important, you know? Look at your wing. How can you impress Silver when you can’t even fly? You don’t look heroic at all.”

Silver, of course, hadn’t even looked at Jet earlier. Her eyes had been on Denton the whole time.

Jet blinked. “So her name’s Silver? Such a pretty name.”

Caroline’s mouth twitched. Are you even listening to me?

She sighed and continued, “We live next door now. You’ve got the advantage. And there aren’t any other mutant birds nearby, so you’ve got time. No need to rush.”

But the moment she finished, Jet burst into loud, miserable wails.

“Other parrots can lay eggs when they’re one! I’m three! Three years old and still single! Jet’s three and still single!”

Caroline was speechless. How did we get from dating advice to a meltdown?

What she didn’t know was that Jet had never even seen a female parrot in his life–only a few sparrows outside the window.

But those sparrows wanted nothing to do with him, especially when they saw the chain on his leg and his cage.

Even sparrows looked down on him.

So now, seeing a beautiful white female bird for the first time, Jet was over the moon. In parrot years, three was already “too old.” A single parrot his age was practically pitiful. No wonder he was ready to throw himself at Silver the moment he saw her.

It took Caroline a long time to calm him down. She even bribed him with his favorite pine nuts to get him to shut up.

This time, though, Jet didn’t eat them. Instead, he carefully hid them under his wing. “These are for Silver. I’ll save them as a gift.”

Caroline rolled her eyes. “Fine, whatever. You’re grown now. Can’t stop you anymore.”

Across the room, Snow had finally settled down under Raven’s watch. She’d learned to play with dog toys–wagging her tail and shaking a plush bunny around–completely forgetting about the couch she used to destroy.

After working all night, Caroline was exhausted and ready to go to bed.

But then she remembered—the new batch of alfalfa hay she had just planted in her storage space. She should check it out.

She took out a bottle of spring water from the space, drank it, and prepared to go inside to tidy things up.

The moment she stepped in, a blur of white fur flew straight at her face. It only took her a second to realize what it was. With a sigh, Caroline reached out and caught Jasper, pulling him off her shoulder.

“Why didn’t you feed me that storage space? Why didn’t you? Why didn’t you?!” Jasper whined nonstop, bouncing up and down like an angry puffball.

Caroline knew he’d been eyeing to finish a storage space for ages,

But those things were far too rare. The one she owned had taken weeks of searching through the biggest gem market in the whole country to find.

As for Tyler’s? The Lowlands had scoured several nearby cities with every bit of manpower they had before finding that single ring.
