Caroline’s eyes lit up with an idea. She reached into the regular chicken coop and picked out the biggest hen she could find, then dropped it into the pen with the giant rooster.

Sure enough, the moment the hen landed, the rooster’s neck shot up, wings tucked in, and his full attention locked onto her.

The poor hen was much smaller and looked a bit nervous.

Caroline thought for a second, then poured her a bottle of spring water. While doing so, she silently made a wish, “Find him a wife, please. Hopefully, she’ll keep him in line, and he won’t go around tearing up my storage space.”

After watching for a bit, she noticed that despite the rooster’s intimidating size, he was actually being really gentle with the little hen, constantly strutting around her, clearly trying to impress.

That put Caroline at ease.

Still on a mission to gather more supplies, she quickly exited the storage space and returned to the real world.

There was one last section left in the warehouse.

She walked over and found rows of red wine bottles, along with a wide variety of cigars, cigarettes, and other luxury items, the kind of things only the rich could afford even before the apocalypse.

There were devil roots, elk antler velvet, matsutake mushrooms, truffles, foie gras, caviar, and all kinds of gourmet coffee.

Caroline even spotted a box labeled in big bold letters–Civet Coffee. She twitched at the corner of her mouth.

Of course Harry would have that. Guy really knew how to live.

After tallying it all up, she counted over a dozen large devil roots. From the looks of them, these devil roots had to be several hundred years old, perfectly preserved and packed with restorative properties. The kind of thing wealthy elites would go crazy for.

Caroline thought of Nathaniel. He’d been injured recently, and maybe one of these devil roots could help.

There were also five or six boxes of elk antler velvet, each packaged in ornate, expensive- looking cases. Back before the world fell apart, these would’ve been a hot commodity.

She found two crates each of matsutake mushrooms, elk velvet, and foie

gras.

Three full crates of caviar.

Caroline had always liked caviar, she just hadn’t had any in over ten years. Maybe more. Now that she had some again, she planned to crack open a tin tonight when she got home and finally treat herself.

Once she’d finished storing the rest of the goods, that warehouse was officially cleared out.

Without wasting a second, Caroline headed toward the final warehouse.

From the look of it, this one must’ve been built after the deep freeze began.

The materials used were insanely thick, Caroline estimated the walls were over a foot thick.

Where the hell did Harry even find materials like this?

She glanced back at the two cleared–out warehouses behind her. The size, the reinforced construction … it felt like such a waste to just leave them behind. With a wave of her hand, she stored both warehouses in her storage space.

Not wasting a single thing.

But as she approached the third warehouse, Raven suddenly stepped forward and blocked her path.

Caroline narrowed her eyes, glancing at the building in front of them. Yeah, something felt off

here too.

The door wasn’t locked. In fact, it was slightly ajar, just a tiny crack open.

Which could only mean one thing, someone was inside.

And standing at the entrance, Caroline caught a whiff of something foul wafting out.

It was the kind of stench that hit you in the back of the throat, like a mix of human waste, rot, and something else … something chemical.
