Chapter 51 The Farm That Grows Surprises
Raven turned his head away, pretending not to hear.
Caroline raised her voice. “Well? Is that right?!”
Raven furry face fell and he walked over, placing his paw right next to the red button, pretending to press it down.
Caroline blinked. “So the red button sends stuff back?”

She nodded to herself and picked up the pillow again, tossing it into the machine. Then she pressed the green button.
This time, nothing happened.
Caroline frowned for a second, then remembered what the storage space manual had said. She could only use the machine once a day. And the trash she put in would turn into resources the next day.
Even though Raven had messed it up by accident, she wasn’t upset.
In fact, she was kind of happy.
With this thing, her boring days in the apocalypse would have something to look forward to.
And more importantly, another layer of security.
After all, even with all the supplies she had stocked up, there might still be something she’d forgotten.
If this machine could spit it out later, that’d be perfect.
When she finished studying the machine, Caroline walked to the front of the house.
The floating screen of her storage space shimmered mysteriously in midair.
She reached out and tapped “Happy Farm.”
A cheerful introduction popped up on the screen.
Happy Farm:
Level: 2
Function: Farm One Plant anything–yes, anything–as long as it’s not alive! What you harvest depends on what you plant. Who knows what surprise you’ll get next? (Once upgraded, your crops might even mutate in a good way. Probably.) Farm Two is strictly for plants, but they grow faster, bigger, and better!
Limit: Overuse, and your farm might decide to take a nap!
Note: Welcome to Happy Farm–where fun grows wild and surprises never stop!
Caroline stared at the last line of the note and couldn’t help but sigh again. This system certainly had a sense of humor! Mischievous!
Still, she was genuinely happy–nope, thrilled.

“Farm One…” she murmured. That had to be the field she named Duskfield.

Now everything made sense. Why planting weed gave her a roll of hemp rope, and why planting bread had somehow produced a rabbit. Farm One was definitely not ordinary.
Planting grass and getting hemp rope meant the harvests were random; it was based on what she planted. The rope itself wasn’t exactly useful; you couldn’t eat it or drink it.
However, in the apocalypse, hemp rope could be a lifesaver. You could tie things up, make traps, or even turn it into a weapon.
And when she’d planted that bread, the system had upgraded halfway through, which must’ve triggered a mutation–creating that weird–looking rabbit.
After sorting everything out, Caroline finally felt relieved. It was time to start farming on a larger scale, depending on the situation,
of course.
But that one line in the manual-“Overuse will cause it to fall into a nap“-made her grit her teeth.
Overuse? What kind of vague nonsense was that?! It didn’t say how much was too much or what exactly counted as overuse. I have to figure it out herself.
Dammit! This system is so annoying. Seriously, it gives me more trouble than Raven!
When she finished reading about the farmland, Caroline switched the screen to the last tab–Loving Ranch.
Loving Ranch:
Level: 1
Function: A peaceful haven where all animals live in harmony! The ranch’s auto–feed system keeps everyone happy and healthy using storage space energy–fully automated, zero hassle. Of course, the storage space owner can still hand–feed them anytime for extra bonding.
Limit: If storage space energy runs low, the ranch will drain power from the spring. Remember to feed your space before that happens!
Note: Life is precious. Take good care of your animals.
After reading that description, Caroline felt like punching the display screen.
Fully automated? Yeah, right! That sounded more like a sales pitch than a real function.
Still, since she didn’t have that many animals yet, she could handle the feeding herself. Caroline relaxed at the thought.
She had collected plenty of food and supplies for them while scavenging, so there was no need to worry about that for now.
Even so, this reminded her of something important. This storage space might be powerful and full of features, but it also had plenty
