Caroline still didn’t fully trust Tyler, but their fragile partnership could continue for now.

When she got home, Raven lay lazily by her feet, half–asleep. Jet, her clingy parrot, flapped over and squawked angrily, “You finally remember to come home, you jerk!”
Caroline laughed, teasing the little bird before heading straight into her storage space.
She hadn’t checked on her farmland or the JunkEater machine all day and couldn’t wait any longer.
Inside the storage space, she went straight to Field One.
What she saw made her eyes widen. Everything she planted yesterday had already sprouted!
But then she frowned, puzzled with the discovery.
Wasn’t Field One supposed to grow all kinds of weird materials, not actual plants?
She’d never seen anything sprout there before.
Still, Caroline knew better than to rush. As long as there was progress, that was a good sign.
Yet something about these sprouts seemed off.
They weren’t green like normal seedlings–they were bright and colorful.
They looked suspiciously toxic.
Caroline stared at the strange sprouts, completely confused. Finally, she sighed.
“Forget it. Let’s wait a few days and see what happens.”
Next, she checked Field Two.
The seeds she had planted there were also sprouting, but these looked perfectly normal..
Tiny green shoots stretched toward the sky, full of life.
She crouched down for a closer look, smiling with satisfaction before walking over to the JunkEater machine behind the house.
Sure enough, its lid was opened again.
Peeking inside, she found a thick winter jacket–a heavy, waterproof down coat that could probably handle freezing temperatures
below zero.
Caroline already had plenty of coats and even a few fur ones, so she didn’t really need another.
She darted her eyes. Then, she grabbed the coat and tossed it back into the JunkEater’s input chute.
“Let’s see what happens if I recycle something it already made,” she murmured.
The machine swallowed the jacket again with a low hum.

Caroline raised an eyebrow, intrigued. “Alright,” she said with a grin. “Let’s see what you spit out tomorrow.”
She still knew very little about her storage space.
From the manual, she could tell it was still in its early, low–level stage.
She needed to find a way to upgrade it as soon as possible.

The thought made her roll her eyes. Great. The storage space is amazing, sure–but it’s a total money pit! It constantly needed more energy to keep running.
Still, the benefits were undeniable.
When she checked on the animals in her ranch, everyone looked happy and healthy. The rabbits were hopping around playfully, and the black–faced sheep and the llama had become best friends. They bleated at Caroline the moment they saw her. The guinea pigs were running in little circles, full of joy.
Satisfied, Caroline left the storage space.
The moment she stepped out, Jet came flying toward her. He rubbed against her cheek like the clingy little attention–seeker he
was.
Raven barely lifted his eyes, watching Jet’s every move, but he didn’t give much reaction.
From the way he behaved, it was clear he had zero respect for Jet’s people–pleasing tactics.
After all, Raven earned his spot in this house with real strength, not flattery.
Watching the two, Caroline suddenly had a thought. Could Jet evolve too?
She had noticed two things before. First, the spring water inside her storage space worked wonders.
After Raven bathed in it, his strength and intelligence both increased noticeably.
Second, acid rain had a strange ability to trigger mutations in living creatures.
