He had been there for two days now. Though medically cleared for discharge, he’d found himself strangely reluctant to leave-he’d grown fond of sharing his meals with Alicia.
But today, he had resolved to check out. Having seen Edward’s social media announcement, he felt compelled to do something for Alicia in return.
When Alicia arrived with breakfast, she found Charles already dressed and ready. He wore a simple black suit and a white shirt-understated, classic, yet he carried them with a striking presence.
She paused in the doorway, watching him for a long moment before stepping inside. “Mr. Yates, are you being discharged today? How’s the wound feeling?”
Charles couldn’t help but smile at how she spoke to him like he was a kid. “It’s fine. No pain at all,” he replied.
Noticing the breakfast container in her hand, he took it from her. “Let’s eat first.”
Alicia grinned, her eyes lighting up. “I thought I’d brought this for nothing. I’m glad it won’t go to waste.”
Charles watched her, amused by how easily small things made her happy. Her contentment felt so childlike that he found himself smiling too.
They settled at the small table in the hospital room to have breakfast.
Over recent days, their shared meals had eased Alicia into a comfortable familiarity. “The scrambled eggs turned out really well today,” she remarked, serving him a portion.
Charles accepted it without hesitation. He ate everything she offered, even the items he typically disliked- not out of obligation, but as a silent tribute to her kindness.
After they finished, he checked his watch. “I’ll drive you to the hotel.”
“You knew about it?” She blinked at him in surprise.
He nodded, “I did.”
Alicia offered a gentle smile. “You really don’t have to. You should go home and rest-I can manage on my
own.”
“It’s no trouble. I have some business near the Crown Hotel anyway,” Charles said.
“Oh… alright, then.” She nodded softly, smiling.
Charles had Kevin complete the discharge formalities. They lingered briefly before Kevin drove the two of them toward the Crown Hotel.
Tiffany woke up extra early to get ready-picking a dress carefully and perfecting her makeup. As soon as she

saw Edward announce the event was at Crown Hotel, she knew she had to go all out. Today, she was dead set on outshining Alicia, no matter what.
Once she was done, she pulled out the framed painting she’d prepped; it looked sleek and high-end.
She nodded with contentment, wrapped it in a cloth, and asked Andrew to come with her.
Andrew was thrilled to share the spotlight, but at the last moment, Archie noticed them and insisted on tagging along.
In the end, all three piled into the family’s most eye-catching car-a bright yellow Maserati-with Andrew at the wheel.
Andrew was a total racing fanatic, and he couldn’t resist showing off-swerving between lanes, speeding past other cars, even scaring pedestrians for fun.
Archie and Tiffany cheered him on from the back. “Andrew, you’re incredible!”
Emboldened, Andrew drove even more recklessly, drawing angry shouts from other drivers.
When they finally pulled up at the Crown Hotel’s entrance, he executed a flashy, exhaust-heavy drift into a parking spot, sending a cloud of fumes over a group of young girls nearby.
They were about to protest-until the car door opened and Archie stepped out, offering a hand to help Tiffany gracefully exit the vehicle. Dressed impeccably, she looked every bit the rising star.
One of the women recognized her instantly. “That’s the Sweetheart Queen!”
The rest perked up, buzzing with excitement. They were rich art lovers who’d started their own gallery.
But honestly, their “signed artists” were just local art college students-only a couple had minor buzz, and none sold well.
When they heard Edward was recruiting apprentices here, and one was the online star Sweetheart Queen, they’d rushed to come.
They genuinely loved her work, but they also had a plan-sign her to their gallery, and it would blow up overnight.
All their irritation over the exhaust vanished upon seeing her.
They swarmed over, calling, “Sweetheart Queen!”
Tiffany heard her online name and gave them her sweetest grin, waving like a superstar. “Hello, everyone!”
The girls lit up at her friendly vibe and were about to walk over-until a pack of reporters pushed through, shoving them aside.
A young reporter jumped in first. “Are you Tiffany Lawrence? The internet’s Sweetheart Queen?”
Tiffany brushed a strand of hair behind her ear, flashing a sweet smile. “Hi everyone, I’m Tiffany Lawrence—
