Alicin took the subway back home, unaware that Edward was on the same train, keeping just the right distance behind her. He didn’t look in her direction, and she didn’t sense his presence at all.

Once off the train, Alicia scanned her face at the gate of Linen Bay Residences and walked inside.

Edward tried to follow but was stopped by the security system. He was stuck, too frustrated to just walk away

While he was lingering outside, someone suddenly tapped him on the shoulder. He turned around and came face–to–face with a tall man, whose piercing gaze instantly made Edward feel small.

Edward was only as tall as the man’s shoulder. He did his best to stand up straight and asked, “What do you

want?

The man’s eyes were cold at first, but when he saw Edward’s face, the chill seemed to melt away, replaced by a look of surprise. “You…” The man started, but could only manage to get that one word out.

Edward frowned. “What?”

The man gave a faint smile and asked, “Are you following Alicia?”

Edward cleared his throat and shot back, “Me? Stalking? No way.”

“Is that so?” the man replied, his gaze so sharp it felt like he could see right through Edward.

Edward shifted awkwardly. “And who are you? Why am I explaining myself to some stranger? Forget it, I’m leaving. He turned to walk away.

The man only watched his back and chuckled lightly. He was Charles, who had been waiting outside.

Charles had planned to go inside with Alicia, but while sitting in his car, he noticed someone following her. So, he decided to wait and confront this person first.

So instead of getting out, he waited until Alicia entered, then decided to see who that person was

He thought it might be someone from the Lawrence family, but to his surprise, it was Richard.

However, at that moment, Charles didn’t plan to make himself known. It was getting late, and he wanted to spend some time alone with Alicia first.

After seeing Edward leave, Charles walked toward the entrance. Just as he was about to scan his face to enter, someone came up beside him and called out. “Uncle Charles”

Charles glanced over and found Henry standing right there.

“Unde Charles, can you take me inside?‘ Henry asked eagerly.

Charles gave him a cool look. “What do you want to go in for?”

Henry replied, “Alicia lives here. I want to see which man she’s living with.”

Charles raised an eyebrow. “Me,” he said flatly.

“What?” Henry stared at him, confused.

“I’m the man.” Charles added with a faint smirk. “She’s living in my place, so you don’t need to go in.” Without waiting for Henry to respond, Charles quickly scanned his face and walked right through the door.

Henry tried to follow him, but the door shut just as he was about to enter, and he almost got caught. He quickly stepped back and stood outside, calling out, “Uncle Charles, let me in.”

Charles acted like he didn’t hear him at all.

Standing outside, Henry was a bit frustrated, but his mind kept returning to what Charles had said.

‘So Alicia’s actually staying at Uncle Charles’s place? But how did she get to know Uncle Charles? I mean, there’s no way they know each other. She must be staying there using my name.

‘She could easily crash at a friend’s or rent her own spot, but nope–she used me as her ticket into Uncle Charles’s place. Looks like she still cares about me. She clearly doesn’t want to break ties with me, Henry thought.

The thought cheered Henry up. He’d wait for Alicia to come back and apologize.

Then Henry started thinking about Tiffany. Alicia was the one who basically drove her out of the country. Tiffany had even called him before leaving, asking him to treat Alicia well and to apologize to her on her behalf.

“Tiffany’s such a sweetheart–how could Alicia be so damn cold? Tiffany literally saved my life. Couldn’t Alicia at least give her a little break for my sake?

‘If it weren’t for Tiffany, I would have been torn apart by those stray dogs. Alicia wouldn’t have such a great boyfriend like me, Henry thought.

When Alicia came back to apologize, he would make sure she brought Tiffany back and treated her right.

As he thought about all this, he turned to leave. Suddenly, someone stepped right in front of him, blocking his way. He looked up to see a white–haired old man standing there.

Out of respect, Henry moved aside, thinking the old man would pass. But as he moved left, the old man did too. When Henry moved right, the man mirrored him.

Chuckling, Henry said, “Looks like we’re in sync. Every time I move left, you move left. Every time I go right, you follow me. Fine, I’ll stay on the left–go ahead and pass on the right.”

But instead of walking past, Edward stopped and asked, “Do you know the guy who just went in?”

Henry blinked, needing a moment to figure out Edward meant Charles. He nodded, “Yeah, that’s my uncle.”

“So, you know Alicia too?” Edward probed, clearly interested.

Henry nodded. Yeah, she’s my girlfriend.”

Edward’s eyes widened. “Your girlfriend?” He repeated, wanting to be sure.

Yeah. Henry said, his chest puffed out. “We’ve been together for two years.”

Edward frowned. “Then why can’t you get into this building? Didn’t Alicia set you up with a face scan?”
