Karma Doesn’t Sleep: The Revenge Queen Rises novel Chapter 108

West Medicine Headquarters

Lounge Area

Sammy sat slouched on the plush lounge couch, gripping his project proposal so tightly his knuckles were white. He’d been waiting three hours already, and his reflection in the glossy black marble table was all stormy brows and restless eyes.

In Alson Creek, Sammy might not have been as big a deal as Clive, but he was still a real-deal trust fund kid—someone the mayor would nod to in public. Getting made to wait for hours? This was a first.

“Mr. Salmeron, thank you for waiting.” A voice came from behind. Francisco, sharp in a crisp suit, strode over, looking apologetic. “I’m sorry, but Mr. Packman’s meeting ran longer than expected. It’s a busy day.”

Instantly, Sammy’s frown flipped into a gracious smile. “No worries at all. Mr. Packman has so much on his plate. I’m honored he’d even consider meeting with me.”

He stood, files in hand, ready to follow Francisco to Ryan’s office.

But Francisco just smiled politely. “Mr. Salmeron, you can leave the proposal with me. Mr. Packman’s just finished and he’s exhausted. He won’t be able to see you today, I’m afraid.”

Sammy’s smile froze. He knew Francisco wasn’t just any assistant—he was Ryan Packman’s right-hand guy. Not someone you wanted to get on the wrong side of.

“Of course. Thanks for your help, Francisco. I won’t keep you.”

“Take care, Mr. Salmeron.”

They shook hands goodbye, and Sammy quietly slipped a bank card into Francisco’s palm, lowering his voice. “Thanks for looking out for me, Francisco.”

Once Sammy left, Francisco glanced at the card and snorted. He tossed both the card and the proposal straight into the trash without a second thought.

Then he pulled out his phone and spoke respectfully, “Mr. Packman, he’s gone.”

Meanwhile, Amelia was finishing dinner alone.

After she’d brought up the idea of teaming up with Cloudcrest for the new project, Clive had barely touched his food. His mind was clearly elsewhere.
