Mrs. Salmeron?
Will raised an eyebrow, his expression icy. He got the message loud and clear.
So she was just another pretty face who landed the R&D manager gig because of her connections. And now she wanted to steal Kristen’s thunder too?
A cold wave of disgust washed over Will’s eyes.
People like her were exactly what he couldn’t stand.
“Don’t worry,” he said, his tone crisp. “I’ll be following this project every step of the way. I know a few of the top medical experts in the country—if you need anything, just let me know.”
Kristen’s face relaxed into a warm smile. “Thank you, Will. Really.”

Meanwhile, Amelia had no clue that, in the span of a single lunch, she’d already been labeled the office’s resident nepotism case.
She rode back to the office with Clive. On the drive, he mentioned picking up Timmy and Penny from school together after work. Amelia thought about it, then shook her head.
“I think I’ll stay at the office tonight. There’s a lot to catch up on. I’ll probably be here pretty late.”
She was running out of time. She had to present her proposal to West Medicine on Saturday, and she needed to put everything she had into it.
Clive took one hand off the wheel and squeezed hers. “Okay, Mrs. Salmeron. Once we sign that contract with West Medicine, I’ll take a day off. Just us, out somewhere nice. You deserve a break.”
Amelia forced a small smile, gently pulling her hand away. “Keep your eyes on the road.”
Back in the R&D department, Amelia had barely walked in when Rachel came rushing over, her eyes shining.
