Karma Doesn’t Sleep: The Revenge Queen Rises novel Chapter 170

Compared to Kristen, Amelia’s reaction was a total letdown.

Clive’s face went cold as he reminded her, “Amelia, your departments aren’t rivals. You’re both working for the company.” He tried to steady his voice, watching her cool, unreadable profile. “Just do it for me, okay?”

Amelia yanked her hand out of his. She didn’t say a word, but her silence said everything.

Clive ran out of patience. “I’ll give you half a day to think it over.”

“No need. My answer’s no,” Amelia shot back, her voice hard as steel. Then she closed her eyes and pretended to nap.

She didn’t have to look to know Clive was probably fuming.

The rest of the drive was painfully quiet.

As soon as the car stopped in front of the office, Amelia pushed the door open and got out. She walked straight ahead, not sparing even a glance behind.

Right at the entrance, she nearly bumped into Kristen.

“Amelia!” Kristen called out, all smiles and sweetness, but Amelia just brushed past her like she didn’t even exist.

She’d barely taken a few steps when Clive’s voice came from behind, a little anxious.

“You okay?”

Amelia looked back and saw Clive holding Kristen upright. Kristen must’ve almost tripped, and now Clive was giving Amelia a look full of blame.

Amelia could already guess what he was thinking. Kristen trips on thin air, Clive catches her, and now he thinks Amelia did it on purpose as she passed by.

She didn’t even bother to react, just kept walking.

But Clive watched her go, reading stubbornness and attitude in every step.
