Back in the lab, Amelia dove right into work as soon as she got back. She barely even stopped to take a sip of water all morning, totally lost in what she was doing. By lunchtime, Rachel showed up with takeout from the cafeteria, and the two of them ate together at Amelia’s desk.

Amelia checked her phone. Earlier that morning, she’d texted Diana to ask if she’d added her using a secondary account. Diana was probably busy filming, because she didn’t reply until noon.

Diana: Oh my god, babe, I totally forgot! Let me add you with my alt right now!

A friend request popped up almost immediately.

Username: Every Teen Boy’s Dream wants to add you as a friend.

Amelia just stared at it, speechless.

She was absolutely sure now that Selfhelper had nothing to do with Diana. The two of them weren’t even in the same universe, let alone connected.

But she really didn’t have time to get into it with Selfhelper. Besides, whoever they were, they’d always helped her out. Amelia decided she’d wait until she locked down the West Medicine deal before digging into Selfhelper’s real identity.

After lunch, Amelia set a forty-minute alarm for a quick nap, folded her arms on her desk, and closed her eyes. She’d only just started to drift off when Rachel came barreling in.

"Amelia, something’s wrong!"

Amelia blinked, still half asleep. "What is it?"

Rachel looked both pissed off and anxious. "The new machine—the one we spent three million on—just arrived, but procurement sent it straight to R&D Two! They said Salmeron told them Kristen’s team gets to use it first!"

That snapped Amelia wide awake.
