Karma Doesn’t Sleep: The Revenge Queen Rises novel Chapter 180

Amelia barely let her annoyance show, but she couldn’t hide the surprise in her eyes when she spotted Clive.

“Do you need something?” she asked, her tone all business, not even bothering with pleasantries as he walked up.

Clive gave her a tired look.

So she’d been looking for him, hadn’t found him, and now she was here to make a point.

“Alright, Amelia.” He tried to sound conciliatory, probably because she’d come rushing over so quickly. “I should’ve handled things better. I let R&D Two use the new equipment first—that’s on me. But Ms. Watts has already started her experiments…”

Amelia didn’t let him finish. Her frown deepened. “Kristen’s already started using it?”

She knew exactly why that machine was rare in the country. It wasn’t just the insane price—it required top-level computer skills. Even the best programmers would need at least two days to get the hang of it.

How could Kristen possibly be using it already?

Amelia remembered the man she’d seen earlier with Kristen, the one who’d gone into R&D Two. She’d only caught his silhouette, but he had an undeniable presence—definitely not someone ordinary.

It had to be him.

Not only had he cracked the supercomputer’s triple-layer security, he’d probably helped Kristen get her experiment running too.

Clive didn’t seem to notice the change in Amelia’s expression. He just kept going, his voice a little too gentle, like he was trying to smooth things over. “I’ve already talked to Ms. Watts. She’ll send you all the experimental data so you two can merge your projects. That should make things easier for both of you.”

He was just assuming she’d agreed to work with Kristen?

Amelia’s frown tightened. “Who said I was merging anything with her?”

Clive looked caught off guard. He’d basically handed her a way out, and she still wasn’t taking it.

His face grew colder, his brows drawing together, frustration and warning mixing in his voice. “Amelia, come on. If you keep this up, it’s just going to get ridiculous.”

Amelia stared at him, realizing he was never really going to listen. She had no patience left for this.

She straightened, her tone as formal as if she were talking to a boss. “Salmeron, let me say this one more time. My project will never have Kristen’s name on it. Not now, not ever.”

She turned to leave.

Clive breathed in sharply and lunged forward, grabbing her hand—the one wrapped in medical gauze.

He didn’t hold back, pressing right where her skin was still raw and hurting. Amelia winced, pain flickering across her face.
