Karma Doesn’t Sleep: The Revenge Queen Rises novel Chapter 192

Amelia couldn’t find the words. The way Timmy looked at her cut straight through her heart.

She walked over slowly, knelt down in front of him, and gently held his shoulders.

“Sweetheart, this is between your dad and me. Please let the adults handle it, okay?” she said, her voice soft but steady. “But there’s one thing I want you to know for sure—I love you and Penny, and nothing will ever change that. Your dad loves you both too.”

Whatever mess she and Clive had gotten into, that was their problem. The kids were innocent in all of it.

She reached up and stroked Timmy’s cheek, her eyes stinging.

“If I could go back five years to the day you and Penny were born, I’d make the exact same choice,” she whispered. “I’d tell the doctors to save you both, no matter what.”

Five years of her life, a coma she’d barely survived—none of it mattered. She’d never regretted having them. Not even for a second.

Timmy stretched out his little hand and brushed away a tear from her face.

Amelia managed a wobbly smile. “Alright, it’s late. Go wash up and get ready for bed, okay? School tomorrow.”

Timmy made it to the door, then stopped and looked back at her.

“Next week… there’s a parent-kid day at school. If you’re, um, really really not busy, maybe you could come?” He blurted it out and then dashed away before she could answer.

Amelia watched him go, a laugh breaking through her tears. Her heart felt so soft it was almost painful.

Of course she’d go. How could she say no after he asked?

Once Timmy left, Amelia wrapped up her work, scheduled her emails for the morning, and finally shut down her laptop. She took a shower, letting the steam clear her head.

She was just stepping out of the bathroom in her pajamas when she heard a knock at the door.
