Getting back together?

Kristen’s eyes went cold. There was no way she’d let Amelia have that chance.

Amelia had barely stepped out of the car when her phone rang. It was Robert, her oldest senior from university.

“Hey, Amelia, we’re stuck in traffic. Might be about ten minutes late. Are you here already?”

“Yeah, I just got here. I’ll wait for you guys in the lobby and we can go up together.”

“Alright, see you soon.”

Still on the phone, Amelia walked through the doors of Cloudcrest, completely unaware that Kristen and Lena were hiding behind one of the massive pillars outside.

Lena watched with open disdain. “She’s really got no shame,” she muttered. “Last night she was all over your Will, and today she’s here chasing after Clive. I bet Will totally shut her down, so she came running back to Clive, begging for another chance.”

Kristen’s expression tightened. Truth was, Will had rejected her last night, not Amelia.

“By the way, Kristen, did you talk to Mr. Dillon last night?” Lena asked, unable to hide her curiosity. “Why’s he suddenly hanging around Amelia?”

Kristen shot her a look. This girl really didn’t know when to stop talking.

She answered calmly, “Will told me they used to be classmates at Baybridge University. They just bumped into each other on the street. Will’s always been a gentleman, so they chatted for a bit. That’s all.”

Lena nodded, satisfied with the answer.

Just then, Kristen spotted Clive’s car pulling in. She immediately left Lena behind, a sweet smile spreading across her face as she walked over.

Clive saw her too. He told the driver to stop at the underground entrance and got out first.

Kristen stood waiting, eyes fixed on Clive as he approached. It was peak office hour, employees streaming in and out, and everyone could see that Clive Salmeron had gotten out of the car just to walk in with Ms. Watts, instead of heading straight up through the garage.

Kristen couldn’t have been prouder.

“Clive,” she called softly.

Now that Clive and Amelia were divorced, she didn’t bother with formalities at work.

Clive nodded to her.

Kristen walked at his side, her tone gentle and caring. “Are you sure you don’t need another day off? Is your stomach still acting up?”
