Mated To The Alpha King (Raven and Ethan) novel Chapter 66

Chapter 66

Alpha Ethan’s POV

I walked out of the cell room, slamming the door behind me, the echo of the metal clanging off the stone walls ringing in my ears. I didn’t look back. couldn’t. If I did, I might go back in there and do something worsesomething more unforgivable.

The hallway was dim, but I knew every corner, every step. I stormed through the corridor, heading straight to my room, anger, and regret twisting violently in my chest like a beast trying to claw its way out. The moment I entered, I shut the door and leaned against it, my eyes closed tightly. I ran a hand through my hair, gripping the strands.

What the fuck is wrong with me?

This was the second time.

The second time, I’d let my rage get the better of me. The second time I’d taken her, touched her, in anger. My fists clenched. She was my maid. My secret. My goddamn sex slave. And I was the Alpha, yet I had no control over myself.

I had marked another as my mateOlivia, my Lunaand yet here I was, spiraling like a fucking disaster because of a girl I should’ve never touched in the first place.

But I did. Again and again.

And I could tell it hurt her. Every time.

She wasn’t just a maid anymore. She wasn’t just some girl serving drinks at my gatherings or folding sheets in the hallway. She wasRaven. Fragile, yet so fucking strong. Quiet, but bold when she needed to be. She had that fire in her eyes when she argued. And I had extinguished that today. I saw it in her eyes before I left that celldefeat.

And what the hell did I do?

Used her.

Again.

Like a goddamn monster.

I crossed the room in two strides and reached the mini bar, yanking open the small glass door. My hands trembled slightly as I grabbed a bottle of whiskey and poured myself a heavy glass. No ice. No mixer. I didn’t deserve comfort.

I downed it in one go, the burn in my throat nothing compared to the fire crawling through my chest. I poured another. And another.

With the third glass halfway to my lips, the door burst open without warning.

“Are you out of your mind?!

I turned slowly, my gaze narrowing. Matthew.

Beta Matthew stood in the doorway, fists clenched at his sides, his eyes burning with restrained fury. He walked in without waiting for permission.

You locked her in the fucking cell, Ethan?

I turned back to the drink in my hand, draining it before speaking. Watch your tone, Matthew.

Answer me,he growled. You seriously put Raven in the goddamn dungeon?

I slammed the glass onto the table so hard it cracked. Do you even know what she did?!

Chapter 66

What she did? You think that justifies this?!

She pushed my Luna! Olivia is unconscious in the pack clinic because of her!My voice roared through the room. I couldn’t contain the storm anymore. She shoved her so hard, her head hit the goddamn comer of the dresser, and now she’s hooked to machines because of that maid!

That maid?Matthew repeated bitterly. You mean the same maid you’ve been fucking behind closed doors? The one you’re destroying every damn day?

I stepped forward, rage burning through my veins like acid. You better watch yourself, Matthew,

No, you watch yourself,he snapped. You’re spiraling! I’ve stood by you through battles, betrayals, warsbut this? Locking her up because you’re angry? Treating her like a toy, then blaming her for your guilt? Who the hell are you right now?

I stepped closer to him, jaw clenched so tightly it hurt. Or maybe you care a little too much. Maybe you’ve been spending a bit too much time with Raven. Is that it, Matthew? Are you fucking her?

His head jerked back like I’d slapped him. For a moment, silence stretched between us, thick and heavy.

Don’t you ever speak that way to me again,” Matthew said, voice dangerously low. I have never, and would never, cross that line. You think I would betray my Alpha for a girl?

You’re questioning my decisions. Barging into my room. Screaming at me about a maid. Sounds a hell of a lot like something.more.

Because you’re not yourself, Ethan!he shouted. Because you’re hurting people you swore to protect. Because you’re turning into a version of yourself I don’t recognize. I know you better than anyone, and this-he gestured around the room, to the cracked glass, the drink in my hand, -this is not you.

I looked away, jaw still clenched, but my grip on the bottle loosened.

You wouldn’t understand,I muttered.

Try me.”

You can’t understand,I hissed. You don’t have a mate. You don’t know what it’s like to feel like you’re being torn in two. To love one and be obsessed with another. To feel like, no matter what you do, you’re betraying someone. Olivia’s my mate, my Luna. But Raven-I trailed off, unable to finish.

Matthew’s face tightened. He took a slow breath. You’re right. I don’t know what it feels like to have a mate. But I do know what it means to be human. And what you’re doing to Raven? It’s inhumane.

He turned on his heel and walked toward the door.

I didn’t mean that,I said quietly. He paused, his back to me. The thing I saidabout you and Raven.

He didn’t turn around. Then maybe you should start meaning what you do, Ethan.

And with that, he left.

The door clicked shut behind him, and I stood there, frozen.

I sank into the chair by the fire, the whiskey bottle still in my hand, but untouched now. My head fell into my hands. The silence of the room wrapped around me, suffocating and cold.

What the hell was I becoming?

I thought back to her face in the cell. The tears she didn’t let fall. The way she looked at me, not with fearbut disappointment. And that hurt more than

anything.

She hadn’t even fought me. That was what scared me the most.

She’d just let me do it.
