Alpha Ethan’s POV

“No!” I screamed as I ran into the healer’s house. There, on the tiny bed, lay Raven–her face pale as snow, her lips barely pink, and her clothes still soaked in her own blood. The sight ripped something deep within me, something I didn’t even know existed. I collapsed beside her, my hand instantly reaching out to touch her cheek. She was cold. Too cold.
“Raven…” I whispered, my voice hoarse with panic. “Don’t you dare do this to me.”
I wasn’t sure if it was my desperation or guilt, but something was pulling the breath out of my lungs, crushing me slowly.
She wasn’t breathing, but I could feel it—just a flicker of life. Her wolf wasn’t gone. I didn’t know how I knew it, but I did. Somewhere deep inside her, she was still fighting.
“You can’t go, Raven,” whispered again, leaning closer. “Not like this. Not when I’m not done with you… not when Elisa is outside losing her mind over you.”
Just then, the door creaked open, and both Elisa and the healer walked in. Elisa’s eyes immediately filled with tears at the sight of Raven. Her hand flew to her mouth, muffling the sob that escaped her lips.
“She’s still alive,” I said before either of them could speak. “I can feel her.”
The healer stepped forward, placing her basket down and lifting Raven’s wrist. Her face remained expressionless for a while, and then she nodded faintly.
“I can still feel her wolf,” she murmured. “It’s faint… but it’s there. Which means she’s not completely gone yet. But it’s delicate–very delicate.”
“Then do something!” I barked.
“I can’t just pull her back with herbs and potions, Alpha,” she said calmly. “The bond with her wolf is fragile. The only thing that might help… is if someone can communicate with her wolf, call her back.”
“Then do it!”
She hesitated, her eyes flickering between me and Raven. “It’s not that simple. Normally, only a mate could connect to a wolf’s spirit like that. But you… you’re not her mate.”
I froze. “No, I’m not. But… I can do it. I have to do it.”
Her brows arched in doubt.
“She’s mine,” I growled, placing both hands on Raven’s cold ones. “She’s not my mate. But she’s mine. She belongs to me, I’ll find her. I’ll bring her back.”
Elisa stood at the foot of the bed, her eyes red, her arms crossed tightly as if trying to hold herself together. “Please, Ethan. Please… try.”
Closing my eyes, I took a deep breath. “Raven…” I whispered. “If you can hear me… if your wolf is still in there, fighting… then fight harder.”
I leaned in, touching my forehead to hers. “I swear to you, if you wake up… if you open those stubborn eyes of yours, you won’t be punished again for what happened to Olivia. I won’t let anyone hurt you. Not even me.”
But for some reason, those words felt dry to me, I didn’t know if I can, but I’m sure I won’t let someone raise a finger on her.
Still, nothing.
“I know I’ve been cruel, I know you probably hate me,” I whispered. “But don’t die. Don’t leave me like this.”
Silence.

“Yes? Eliza gasped. “She blinkind!”
And as if that weren’t enough, her chest began to rise and fall with a bit more steadiness. Her breathing was no longer ragged or forced it was deeper,
firmet.
“She’s stabilizing,” the healer said quickly, kneeling beside Raven and lifting her tunic gently to expose her bandaged abdomen.
“I do the rest. But this is delicate.” She placed her palms over the wound and began to murmur incantations under her breath. The air around us seemed to shift, grow warmer. A subtle golden glow radiated from her hands as her lips continued moving in a tongue I didn’t recognize.
I held Raven’s hand tighter.
After what felt like forever, the healer pulled her hands away. I gasped.
The wound had sealed–not completely, but it was no longer life–threatening. Only a faint scar remained, just over her left side, just above the rib cage.
“She’ll live,” the healer said finally, exhausted. “Her wolf responded. She’s still unconscious… but she’s out of danger.”
i sagged backward, my entire body trembling from the relief.
1 wanted to cry, but I wouldn’t–not in front of Elisa. I wasn’t that weak.
But gods, I’d never felt this scared in my entire life.
Elisa came to the side of the bed and ran a gentle hand over Raven’s hair. “Thank the Moon Goddess…”
I stared at Raven’s face, at the blood still clinging to her skin. “She needs to be cleaned up.”
