The next afternoon after class, Roxanne hugged her picture book and rode her bike away from the academy. She had just reached the gates when someone called her name.
"Roxanne."
She stopped her bike.
The voice belonged to a woman dressed in high fashion. She also donned oversized sunglasses, bright red lipstick, and wavy hair that gave off serious retro vibes, like a modern woman from the '70s or '80s.
Roxanne looked at her. "Did you call me?"
"Yes. My name's Angeline Barnes. You probably don't know me, but I know who you are." Angeline took off her sunglasses and smiled at Roxanne.
Roxanne frowned slightly, her beautiful brows knitting together. "I don't know you. What do you want?"
Angeline raised an eyebrow. "Why don't we find a café and talk?"
Roxanne laughed lightly. "I don't even know who you are. Why should I talk to you? If you've got something to say, say it. If not, I'm leaving."
She got ready to ride off.
Angeline suddenly yelled, "Sebastian is here!"
That made Roxanne freeze in place.
Angeline walked up to her and pulled out a photo from her bag. In the photo, Sebastian stood in front of Jack's shop with a cold face.
Roxanne's heart skipped a beat when she saw it. The timestamp on the photo was from just past 8:00 pm the night before. She had only sold the ring that morning, and Sebastian had shown up that night. How could he have gotten there so quickly?
Selling that ring was such a reckless move.
She initially thought it was fine since she was overseas and the ring band had names engraved on it. She had even told Jack, who said he'd take the band off and reset the gem before selling it.
Angeline smiled. "Sebastian and I are sworn enemies. How can I watch him get what he wants? If he wants to find you, I'll make sure he doesn't."
Roxanne snorted. "Sebastian sure has a lot of enemies."
No wonder he was constantly getting set up. Even with bodyguards all around him, he still couldn't dodge all the "accidents". How miserable.
Roxanne thought for a moment and then said, "I need to go talk to a friend first."
Angeline pulled a business card from her bag and handed it over. "If you need help, call this number. I'll give you one day. I found you this quickly, so Sebastian won't be far behind. When he does show up, you won't even get the chance to run."
With that, Angeline gave her a long look, slid her sunglasses back on, and walked off in style.
The moment she turned the corner, Roxanne tossed the business card straight into the trash. A cold sneer crossed her face. Did Angeline really think she didn't know her just because she didn't recognize her?
Roxanne had seen her yesterday, standing right next to Yasmin.
