Sebastian felt like he had just punched a pillow. His expression tensed, and his dark eyes were unreadable. Then, he pulled out a ring box and placed it on the edge of the bed. "Why did you sell it?"
Roxanne looked at the ring with a gaze clouded with regret. She shouldn't have sold it. She could've transferred the money to Elvira and had her wire it to her overseas account. There was no need to take the risk of selling that ring. At least then, she would've been safe and Sebastian wouldn't have found her.
And something in her gut told her that if she hadn't sold that ring, not only would Sebastian have never found her, but last night's nightmare wouldn't have happened either.
Sebastian stared at her. His narrow, cold eyes darkened like ink pooling in water—deep, dangerous, and consuming.
"Answer me."
His voice had sharpened with accusation and anger. Of course, he was mad. She had sold the engagement ring he had given her.
She had no interest in entertaining this pointless interrogation, but Sebastian kept acting like the wounded party, taking it out on her like she was the one in the wrong.
She'd had enough. "Sebastian, don't you think you're being a hypocrite? How long are you planning to lie to yourself? You really don't know why I sold that ring?"
He truly didn't. His gaze darkened even more as he stared at her. "What are you talking about?"
She let out a sarcastic laugh. She walked forward, opened the box, took the ring out, and slipped it onto her finger before wiggling her finger. The ring swayed side to side. It was oversized and went completely off-center.
His brows furrowed instantly, and his eyes flared with anger. "What are you talking about? This ring was custom-made for you. What does Liana have to do with anything? Can you stop dragging her into everything?"
The moment he heard Liana's name, frustration surged through him. They fought about her every time. She was just a little sister to him.
The ring had been designed for Roxanne from the start. It had nothing to do with Liana.
But Roxanne was used to this. Every time Liana came up, Sebastian would lose his calm. And he always said the same two things.
