Sebastian let out a sneer. His gaze suddenly turned sharp, and his voice was slow and deliberate. "Senior? You two were living together, weren't you? You've slept together, haven't you?"
"Sebastian!" Roxanne suddenly stood up, glaring at him coldly. "Don't project your filthy thoughts onto others! And what right do you have to question me? You suspect I slept with Zachary, but what about you and Liana?
"Over all these years, you've done far worse, haven't you? Didn't you always say your relationship with her was pure and innocent? Back then, you were so confident about it. But when it comes to me, why are you suddenly so aggressive?"
She thought she was losing her mind trying to communicate with Sebastian. He was impossible to talk to.
Living together meant they had slept together?
She was an orphan studying abroad, and her senior was around to take care of her. What was the big deal? Wasn't that common?
And hadn't Sebastian himself stayed with Liana in the same room before?
That would've been three years ago when Liana had to undergo a major surgery. It was a long one that lasted overnight. Sebastian had stayed by her side the whole time.
After the surgery when Liana went home to rest, Sebastian stayed with her for a month. He had been so attentive and caring.
He had done even worse! Why hadn't he found that problematic? Now, he was pointing fingers at her?
It was clear now that he held himself to one standard and others to another.
Sebastian's brow twitched, and he rubbed his temples, clearly agitated. His fingers turned white, and his whole body trembled slightly. It was a display of his rising frustration.
He didn't understand. He just couldn't have a proper conversation with Roxanne.
The problem wasn't being solved. In fact, it only seemed to grow bigger.
Her heart was filled with endless grievance and humiliation. She knew it was her fault for loving him for so many years, and she accepted it.
She had loved him with all her heart and had tried her best to warm his cold heart. She had thought if she just kept going, she would eventually see the light. But she had overestimated herself.
She gave up not because of the engagement party but because of the many small moments over the seven years. Bit by bit, they had worn down all her passion.
She would rather Sebastian stay high and mighty—always looking down on her—than see him like this now. Because seeing him lower his head made those seven years of deep love seem like a joke.
He had always been able to change, but he had just chosen to ignore her.
Closing her eyes, a tear slipped down Roxanne's cheek. It wasn't because Sebastian had lowered his stance. It was for herself, the one who had endured so much for the past seven years.
"Sebastian, let go."
