Mending a Broken Love (Roxanne and Sebastian) novel Chapter 80

Later on, Lucas told him something unexpected—there was an arranged marriage between their families. He and Roxanne were meant to get married.

But Lucas asked for his opinion first. If Sebastian agreed, they could proceed with the engagement. If he refused, the matter would be dropped as if it had never been discussed.

At that time, Sebastian had asked for two years to consider it. He wanted to test Roxanne. If she passed, then fine. If not, then it was out of the question.

Lucas had asked him what the criteria were. He had only given him a two-word answer—no trouble.

If Roxanne was a burden, then it was a no. If she wasn't, then they could talk. As it turned out, Roxanne did well in those two years.

Sure, there had been moments of immaturity, but she had always handled them herself. She had never once bothered him. So, in the end, he was satisfied with her.

Then, on her 20th birthday, she made a wish to be with him, and he agreed.

Now, thinking back, he could still clearly remember the day she had jumped in excitement. Her eyes had been filled with unspeakable joy, and the smile on her face had been overflowing with love.

Sebastian leaned back on the couch, closed his eyes, and took a deep breath. He finally said, "I do like her."

Love? He wasn't sure. But there was no doubt that he liked Roxanne.

Peter looked him straight in the eye and told him the truth. "Haven't you realized it? Roxanne doesn't love you the way she used to. The love she had for you… It's been worn down over these seven years."

He tried to put it gently. But the truth was, Roxanne didn't love Sebastian anymore.

Sebastian's expression darkened instantly. "That's impossible. She loves me."

A stubborn, almost irrational certainty settled over him. Roxanne's love for him was unquestionable. He liked her, and she loved him. They belonged together. It was only natural. There was no way she didn't love him.

Peter sighed. "She started out loving you with everything she had. But your years of coldness and neglect have slowly drained her. Now, can you still feel her love for you?"
