Miss Josefina: Nobody's Princess novel Chapter 447

Josephine was on her commute, the city sprawled out before her like a concrete jungle waking up to the morning rush, when her phone buzzed with a call from an unfamiliar number.

She answered, and a voice introduced itself. “Josephine, it’s Marina, Xavier’s mom.”

“Hi, Auntie Marina. What’s up?” Josephine asked, her tone polite but curious.

Marina's voice was warm and almost affectionate. “Josephine, Xavier got into some trouble yesterday—some guys attacked him with knives. I heard you had a close call too, so I wanted to check on you. I suspect it's the same group targeting both of you.”

“Xavier got hurt? How could someone his size not handle an attacker? Were there too many of them?” Josephine asked, genuinely astonished.

Marina hesitated, her silence uncomfortable.

She had already asked Xavier; there had been only one assailant. The attacker had been quick, precise, and ruthless, not giving Xavier a chance to fight back. And Xavier’s lack of self-defense skills hadn’t helped; he’d been pinned and roughed up.

Clearing her throat awkwardly, Marina asked, “Josephine, you’re okay, right?”

“I’m fine, but a friend of mine isn’t. Auntie Marina, could you please tell Xavier to stop two-timing? If he’s with Ruby, he shouldn’t be messing around with my friend. Why be a jerk when he can be a decent guy?”

Marina was speechless. Josephine didn’t beat around the bush!

“And Auntie, I’m just being straightforward. I hope you won’t take it the wrong way,” Josephine added briskly.

Marina gritted her teeth but kept her composure. “Josephine, why would I take offense? But let me clear something up—Xavier isn’t dating Ruby. She’s been chasing him; it’s all one-sided. Xavier likes your friend, and she’s the only one for him.”
