Reborn, She's Back for Revenge novel Chapter 103

Amidst the buzzing whispers, Hallie walked toward the classroom, unfazed. Her back was ramrod straight, and her eyes clear as day. The students, finding nothing new in the gossip, lost interest and scattered away.

When Hallie stepped into the classroom, countless eyes landed on her. Without even glancing to the side, she sat down and started on her assignments.

The students of Class One traded awkward glances, but after three years together, no one was about to air anything ugly right in front of her.

Noreen, sitting nearby, let out a cold laugh and was about to make a snide remark when Dan walked in right then.

Every Monday after the monthly exams was judgment day when grades and rankings were revealed, Students in the room could feel the tension crackling in the air.

Dan strode in and announced, First place, Cathy. The moment he spoke, the whole class went silent.

Everyone had seen Hallie show up to school, so they’d figured she’d snag her usual spot, first in Class One, which always landed her around fiftieth in the whole grade.

Hallie’s face turned white. She’d fumbled her SSAT, missing Sunspire High School’s cutoff. The Lovett family ended up paying to get her admitted, and later pulled some strings to place her in Class One.

Not wanting everyone to think she was just some rich kid who bought her way into Sunspire High School, she’d always worked doubly hard. Ever since freshman year, she’d held the top spot in her class.

She was usually ranked 51st in the entire grade. Occasionally, with a bit of luck, she might make it up into the forties, but she’d never slipped out of the main pack.

Since someone from the Honors Class missed the exam, if she’d managed first in Class One, she would have been a shoo- in for the top fifty in the entire grade.

But she wasn’t even first in Class One. How can this even happen?Hallie thought, Did I just show up today to make a fool of myself?

First place, Hallie,Dan called out again, like he was tossing Hallie a life preserver. Hallie, just as puzzled as everyone else, raised her head in surprise.

Dan explained, Cathy and Hallie are tied for first, both scored 675 points, so they’re both tied for 50th in the grade.

Hallie let out a deep breath. It doesn’t matter if I just scraped by at 50th,’ she thought. At least they won’t kick me out. I can still keep studying here! She steeled herself against all the judging stares around her.

Third place, James, 669 points,” Dan continued.

James, Class One’s monitor, was no stranger to taking third. As usual, he’d landed there again. But this time, he shattered his personal best with 669 points. So, his math score must’ve jumped by at least twenty points.

Fourth place, Edith, 660 points? Dan raised his voice, shooting a glance at Edith

No wonder I pegged Edith as the one with real potential,Dan thought to himself. Just half a month in, and she’s already left the rest of the class in the dust.

[Host failed to take first place in the class. Mission failed.]

Edith wasn’t surprised at all by failing the mission, but she felt genuinely satisfied with her score.

She hadn’t expected to hit 660 and grab fourth place in the class. Apparently, her Engloria and literature scores came out a few points higher than she’d guessed.

The rest of the class just stared in shock. Edith was all the way down on 18th. And at this time, she rocketed up to 4th place with her score soaring from 580 to 660. That improvement speed was downright monstrous.

Dan finished announcing all the rankings, then asked Cathy to pass out the test papers for each subject.

Edith nailed a perfect score in Engloria, notched 140 in literature, 135 in math, and 235 in science. She even bagged a full

score on her essay, and that was where those extra ten points came from.

Edith wasn’t some overnight genius, but her life experience gave her essays real depth and range. No wonder she racked up such a high score.

The bell rang, and Dan stepped out of the classroom. Almost immediately, Cathy, James, and Edith were swarmed by their

classmates.

Did you guys start a study group or something?

Your scores have all shot up. If this keeps up, you might even hit 700 on the SAT.

James, Cathy, let us join your group.

Honestly, I’m not asking for much. If I could just hit 600, I’d be happy.

Cathy shot a helpless glance at Edith. The study group was actually four of them, but Edith and Larry were the main ones running the show. Cathy wasn’t the one calling the shots here.

James, too, was waiting to see what Edith would say. Edith wasn’t opposed to letting more people join the study group, but since they were all from Class One, it’d just be a Class One thing.

She knew just how important the SAT was for every student. Since she’d been lucky enough to get Larry’s help, she figured it was only right to help others, too.

Edith smiled and said, Sure, that’s fine. But everyone’s got their own strengths and weaknesses, so maybe we should split up into smaller groups.

For example, Cathy nailed science this time, so anyone who’s struggling can study with her. James got a perfect score in Engloria. And I’m pretty good at essays. If you need help with writing, I can definitely lend a hand.

So, based on everyone’s learning needs, Edith divided the study group into four subgroups. If a group couldn’t figure something out, they could always ask the subject teacher for help.

Everyone had to pull their weight, help out their teammates, and contribute to the group. If someone couldn’t help others

anymore, it just meant they had to work harder to catch up.

Everyone was fired up, throwing themselves into forming study groups. But Hallie sat all by herself, completely alone.

Back when she was Class One’s top student, whenever classmates had questions, they’d come straight to her for advice. At that moment, even though she was still first, nobody gathered around her anymore.

It felt like she was cast out by Class One. Hallie just sat at her desk, almost invisible, and no one even looked her way.

How does it feel?Noreen’s voice cut through the silence, right next to Hallie’s ear.

Hallie looked up, tears welling up in her eyes. Noreen, we’re best friends.

Noreen snorted. Best friends? Please. I don’t go digging through the trash for friends. Look at you. Everyone’s laughing at you. Honestly, you would’ve been better off not even getting first place. What a joke.

After tossing that jab, Noreen strolled straight over to Edith. Count me in for the study group.

Noreen might slack off sometimes, but she wasn’t exactly failing any classes. Edith didn’t have a problem with joining and

was slotted into the science squad.

Almost everyone in Class One crowded over there, signing up for the study groups. But Hallie just sat by herself at her desk. A cold breeze came through the window, and it felt like her heart had fallen straight into an icebox.

Maybe Noreen was right,’ she thought bitterly. If I’d just taken second place, I wouldn’t even have to be here, taking all

this humiliation.

Why am I even here? How could anyone study in a place like this?Holding back tears, Hallie felt like she might break down at any moment.

Hallie spotted Kelvin standing right at the classroom door. The hope rekindled in her chest. Hallie didn’t hesitate; she strode straight toward the door.
