Reborn, She's Back for Revenge novel Chapter 106

Chapter 106

Today was the large scale parentsmeeting for all students in the senior class. The lecture hall was packed. Students sat up front while parent filled the back rows, talking with each other about their kidsschoolwork and grades.

Edith sat quietly with a small notebook in hand, its pages filled with formulas from her science subjects. She was softly reciting them to herself, barely paying attention to the meeting.

Edith, your Dad’s here!Cathy said, giving Edith’s sleeve a little tug.

Vincent had donated money to build two of the school buildings at Sunspire High School and had even given a speech there before, so a lot of people recognized him.

As soon as Vincent appeared, a bunch of parents gathered around him.

Mr. Lovett, Hallie and Edith are all your daughters, right?one parent asked.

I heard from Mr. Humphrey that both of your daughters did very well on the exams this time, another one added.

Mr. Lovett, would you mind sharing some parenting tips with us? We could all use some tips,a third one chimed in.

Vincent couldn’t help feeling a hidden sense of pride from all the praise he was getting from the other parents. He never imagined attending the parentsmeeting for his outstanding daughters would be so rewarding.

Hallie was the pride of the Lovett family. She made Vincent stand out in any crowd.

As for Edith, Vincent didn’t have high expectations for her. Having wasted six years in the countryside, it was hardly surprising that Edith had fallen behind in her studies. Vincent would be perfectly satisfied if Edith could just get into college.

Mr. Lovett, one of your daughters got first place in the class, and the other got fourtha parent started to say.

But before the parent could finish, Vincent’s phone buzzed.

Vincent glanced at the screen and found it was Karen. He stepped aside to answer. What’s up?

Vincent, you’re already at school?Karen’s soft voice came through. I just got to the office, and Mr. Chambers is here. He says there’s a problem with the contract we signed last time. I don’t understand it myself. Can you come back right now?

Vincent stared at the upcoming parentsmeeting, feeling torn. Then Mr. Chambers’s voice came through the phone. It’s not just a small issue. There are some major loopholes in the contract. If we don’t fix this today, we’ll cancel the deal.

Alright, I’ll be right there,Vincent said. He hung up and headed toward Edith’s seat.

A shadow fell across Edith, and Edith looked up quietly. Dad, you can’t stay for the meeting because something came up at work, right?

Vincent looked a little awkward, but nodded. There’s something urgent at the company. I need to head back and handle it.

Don’t worry about us, Dad. Go take care of work,Edith replied softly.

Edith’s sweet and considerate reply just made Vincent feel even more ashamed inside.

Memories from the past six years came flooding back. Every year when Vincent went to visit Edith, Karen would call him, saying there was an emergency at work or that one of the other children had gotten hurt.

Over six years, he made six trips to the countryside. On three occasions, Karen called him back before he could see Edith. On three occasions, he handed Edith the gifts and money he had prepared then drove away in a rush.

Vincent thought, I’ll stay and be there for Edith’s parentsmeeting next time.

Chapter 106

Edith remained utterly unfazed. From the moment Vincent said he’d show up at the parentsmeeting, she knew deep down that Karen vend

allow it.

If she were the little girl desperate for a father’s love, she’d probably be throwing a tantrum right now. But she wasn’t. She had long since stopped hapier for anything from Vincent. When she expected nothing, there was simply nothing left to feel.

The parentsmeeting kicked off with the principal’s speech, followed by the head teachers giving motivational talks. Finally, it was time for the student representative to speak.

Edith was still memorizing formulas when she was unexpectedly called on.

The student who made the biggest improvement in the entire grade this month is Edith

From barely passing on her first day of school to achieving perfect scores in Engloria her relentless effort. Let’s welcome Edith to the stage to share her secrets to success!

Edith looked totally stunned. She thought, Seriously? Couldn’t someone have warned me about this?

Thunderous applause filled the hall. She put her notebook down and made her way to the stage under the gaze of parents and students.

Hello, everyone. My name’s Edith.Edith spoke

a

gentle and clear tone.

She was beautiful, with a stunning figure. The loosefitting school uniform she wore somehow made her appear both strikingly beautiful and alluring. Yet she possessed an exceptional aura, both approachable and commanding. Standing on stage, she was a sight to behold.

She continued, Honestly, there’s no magic trick to studying. It all comes down to putting in the work. I don’t think senior year is so tough for us.

If we stay focused, keep pushing ourselves, and dive deep into our subjects, we’ll get the results we want. Our class started a study group, but it’s not your typical kind. It’s something different.

Edith spoke eloquently on the stage, radiating confidence.

Dan kept nodding. He’d heard all about this group. It was set up for students who had weak spots dragging down their scores. Some struggled with math and others with Engloria. The lower the student’s score was, the more room there was to improve.

Some students usually scored in the 330s and 340s in math. After a week of intensive study group training, they might improve by ten points.

Within the next two months, students who struggled with math could score at least 370 points on the SAT, representing an improvement of over 40 points compared to their typical scores.

Everyone in that group helped each other and pushed each other through rigorous training. It was learning together, improving together, and leveling up as a team.

The parents listening in all understood what Edith was saying.

She’s already pretty, and on top of that, she’s got the brains too,one parent murmured in awe.

Everybody knows study groups can help, but this is the first time I’ve seen someone actually put it into practice, another parent remarked.

My kid’s grades in literature are always stuck in the 320s. It’s so frustrating. If he could just bump it up to 350s, that would add 30 points to his total score. He might make it past the college entrance cutoff, another parent added.

The System kept pinging in Edith’s head nonstop. Edith was speechless. She thought, Can’t I get a different kind of reward? At this rate, I’ll turn into a fairy sooner or later.

Sitting in the audience, Hallie’s face was twisted with jealousy and rage.

She thought, I’m the one who got first place! Why is she the one up there giving the speech? She’s a backwater hick. How does die deserve to be the

focus of everyone?

But no matter how much Hallie burned up with envy and anger, all the applause still went to Edith.

Finally, it was time for Larry, the top scorer in the monthly exam, to step up and give his speech. He had an air of natural elegance. The moment he walked up to the stage, an unspoken hush swept over the audience.

Hello, everyone. I’m Larry,Larry said with a flat tone.

Throughout his high school years, Larry had to give speeches on stage almost every semester. By now, he always insisted, leaving him with little choice.

thoroughly sick of it, but the principal

The moment Larry started to speak, a swarm of freshmen and sophomores flocked outside the lecture hall, hoping to hear his voice or sneak a peek at

him.
