Reborn, She's Back for Revenge novel Chapter 122

Chapter 122

Night gradually fell, deepening the shadows over the city. Vincent was behind the wheel, driving toward the riverbank on the eastern outskirts.

At first, Karen was excited, looking forward to the surprise Vincent had in store for her.

But as they neared the riverbank, her smile froze. Karen spoke up, Vincent, what are we doing here?

The riverbank on the east side was undeveloped, wild weeds stretching everywhere, the ground muddy and scattered with pools of river water. Karen really couldn’t figure out why Vincent had brought her to a place like this.

Outdoor fine dining is all the rage with young folks now. Let’s see what the hype is about,Vincent said as he drove the car deeper along the weedchoked path.

He said, Trust me, everything’s ready. We’ve even got special lighting set up.

Suddenly, Karen’s phone vibrated.

It was a message: [Aunt, we’re in position. We saw that bitch’s car pull up. We’ll make our move in five minutes.]

Karen’s grip tightened around her phone. She blurted out nervously, “Vincent, I don’t feel well. Can we go home?

But Vincent was unmoved. Everything’s already arranged. It’s way too late to bail now. Didn’t you say you wanna have a fancy dinner with me?

Karen didn’t know what to say.

She did love fine dining, but what she really wanted was sitting in a classy restaurant, savoring every bite in comfortnot getting dragged out to some rundown riverside in the dark.

If it were just another remote countryside, maybe she could have toughed it out. But this was the east riverbank, the exact spot where she’d planned something major for tonight.

Karen just couldn’t figure out why Vincent had suddenly brought her to this place. She thought, This can’t be just some wild coincidence, right? If Vincent happened to witness what was about to go down

Her heart skipped a beat. She shut the thought down immediately.

Right now, Karen knew she had to get Vincent out of here, and fast.

My stomach hurtsso much!Karen doubled over, clutching her gut. Vincent, please, take me to the hospital.

A sharp screech pierced the night. The car jolted to a stop. Outside, darkness swallowed the riverbank, and a chilly, damp wind drifted in, thick with the scent of water and wild grass.

Vincent turned to Karen and slowly said, Give me your phone.”

Karen instinctively hid her phone behind her back. Vincent, what are you doing? Do you think I’m seeing someone else?

Give me your phone,Vincent demanded, reaching out. You’ve got only one chance.

Karen’s eyes flew wide. In a split second, she understood everything.

She thought, My plan is totally exposed. Vincent has brought me here on purpose. How did my plan get exposed? Who did it?

No, it’s not the time to think about that. I have to play it cool and make sure Vincent doesn’t suspect

a thing.

Vincent, what are you talking about? I don’t get itKaren shook her head, trying to sound clueless. I skipped lunch and haven’t eaten all afternoon. My stomach hurts so badly. Can you take me to the hospital?

Vincent unbuckled his seatbelt and stepped out of the car without a word. He pulled out his phone, tapped on a shared location, and started walking toward it.

As he moved forward, he spotted a car parked nearby some tall grass. It looked familiar.

He knocked on the window and said coldly, Gavin, I know you’re in there.

Gavin was stunned, frozen on the spot. He thought, What’s Vincent doing here? Did the whole plan get exposed?

He glanced over his shoulder, spotting Karen rushing up behind Vincent, desperately shaking her head at him.

Gavin stammered, II just came out here to watch the moon. It’s really beautiful tonight

He didn’t even get to finish before a woman’s terrified scream rang out nearby. Don’t come any closerl Stay away. Let go of me.

Vincent whipped his head toward the sound and saw five thugs closing in on Edith. She was so small,

cornered by the men with nowhere to run.

Dad, help!Edith screamed.

Seeing Vincent, the only hope she had, Edith sobbed and bolted straight toward him, flinging herself into his arms like her life depended on it.

The thugs hadn’t expected anyone to show up. They freaked out and scattered like rats, ducking and diving into the tall weeds to hide.

It’s none of my business!Gavin blurted out. Seriously, I’m just here to catch some air.

Alright, Gavin,Vincent spat, his voice icy and teeth clenched. I haven’t even settled the debt from yesterday with your family yet, and today you dare treat my daughter like this?

You’d better tell your parents to get ready. You’re about to face the consequences!

The Young family had only managed to climb up the ranks in Sunspire these past few years because of their ties with the Lovett family.

If Vincent decided to pull the plug on their business, all it would take was a single word from him.

Gavin’s face went pale. It’s not my fault! It was Aunt-

Gavin!Karen cut him off sharply. If you didn’t do.it, then no one can blame you. Right now, the most important thing is to catch those thugs.

Gavin’s eyes widened as realization hit him. Without witnesses or hard evidence, no one could actually prove he’d done anything. As long as no one caught those thugs, he’d remain in the clear.

Gavin straightened up at once. Uncle, I swear I didn’t do anything. You can’t just accuse me like this!

Edith glanced downward with a sneer. Last night, she’d told Vincent about all this, but just like she’d predicted, he didn’t buy a single word. So, she made sure Vincent came out here to see it with his own. eyes.

No need for hard evidence. Once Vincent got the idea stuck in his head, no matter what went down, Karen and the Young family would take the fall for it all.

Those thugs were never a real threat. This whole performance was just wearing Edith out.

Just to drive a wedge between Vincent and Karen, Edith had gone so far as to slice her own arm.

Dad, it hurtsEdith cried out, her voice trembling. Tears streamed down her face.

Vincent gently rolled up her sleeve, revealing a long, bloody gash stretching from her forearm up to her arm, crimson soaking into her clothes.

Vincent’s eyes burned with rage. Karen, just you wait!

Without another word, he scooped Edith up, shoved her into the car, and tore off down the road.

Karen felt all the strength drained out of her. She slumped over, and for the first time, her face showed she was completely at a loss.

Even with no solid proof, she knew she was still tangled up in the mess. Vincent was definitely going to make her pay for this, and she had no clue how she was supposed to wriggle out of it.

Aunt Karen, what are we supposed to do now? If my parents find out I was mixed up in this, they’re going to kill me!Gavin babbled, panic written all over his face.

Karen tightened her lips, her thoughts spinning. This wasn’t about getting a scolding. It was about the Young family cutting her off for good.

She’d already fallen out with the Crawford family, and now the Young family was about to drop her, too. At this rate, everyone from her own family would turn their backs on her.

The only thing she could hang on to was her marriage to Vincent.

Get on a flight tonight. Just get out of the country and lay low for a while,Karen said, her voice drained and weary. Once Vincent cools down, this will all blow over. Go now!

Gavin didn’t hesitate for a second. There was no way he was sticking around to get grilled by his parents. He jumped in his car and headed straight for the airport.

Meanwhile, after getting her arm patched up at the hospital, Edith was being driven home by Vincent.

By the time they got back, it was almost midnight.

Zachary and Joseph were still up, their nerves on edge after everything that had happened the night. before. They both had this sinking feeling that something big was about to go down.

Sure enough, just as they’d feared, Vincent came in carrying Edith in his arms.

Edith, what happened?Zachary blurted out, his voice full of concern.

Are you hurt, Edith?Joseph added quickly, his face written with worry.

[Host has earned genuine worry from your family. Reward: One Universal Healing Pill.]

In the next instant, a pill appeared right in Edith’s palm.

Honestly, the wound didn’t hurt all that much, and there was no way she’d take some magic pill just to heal up completely. She was keeping that injury on purpose to make sure Vincent would finally give up on Karen, once and for all.
