Zachary soon had yet another round of monthly exams coming up. During this time, he didn’t go out for basketball, and didn’t sneak off to play video games at home either. Instead, he put his full focus into studying.

Just then, Joseph poked his head in with a mischievous grin. He said, “Edith, wanna know a secret? Sometimes Zachary sneaks comic books. He gets a whole stack in the second drawer under his desk.”

Zachary could’ve throttled his little brother right then and there.

Zachary rushed to pull open the drawer and said, “Look, it’s only two comics, and I haven’t even started reading them yet. I’m telling the truth.”

Edith couldn’t help but smile slightly. Then she said, “You ranked twenty–seventh in this exam. See? As long as you put in just a little more effort, a bit more than those around you, you can achieve good results.”

Zachary silently grumbled to himself, ‘Is this just a little more effort? I have been studying so hard that I was exhausted every day.

He had expected to rank in the forties, but unexpectedly, he got twenty–seventh. This alone proved how terrible their class was. Even someone like him, a so–called waste, could still become a mid–tier student.

“You need to balance study and rest. Reading comic books is fine,” Edith continued. “Your monthly exam results were good. Let’s take a break from studying this afternoon and go visit Shaun together.”

Zachary didn’t like studying. Every day, he forced himself to read and do homework only under Edith’s pressure. As long as he wasn’t doing homework, he could do anything.

He snapped his textbook shut and replied, “Let’s go. If we head over now, we can still catch lunch with Shaun.”

As the three of them went downstairs, Dallas’s voice came from the doorway, “Cedric, you’re back already?”

Zachary hopped over and asked, “Cedric, how come you’re home?”

Since Cedric started high school, he barely ever came back. Zachary hadn’t seen him for ages.

Joseph ran up and said, “Cedric, we’re headed to see Shaun. Come with us.”

Cedric had gone last week. He usually visited every other week. But going with the family this time felt different from going alone. He nodded in agreement.

The four of them got into the car, Edith in the front, listening to her three brothers talk about school.

The car quickly arrived at the entrance of Beacon Hall Special Academy. Zachary and Joseph got out first, and Cedric lagged a step behind, walking beside Edith.

Cedric hesitated for a second before finally saying, “Actually, I came home this time because there’s something I want to ask you.”

Edith replied with a nod, “Go ahead.”

He had intended to ask Edith for money, but he ended up offering his own.

Edith, however, didn’t need the money. She refused politely and said, “Keep it for yourself. Look, Shaun is coming out.”

much.”

“Thank you for telling me. We’ll go get lunch now,” Edith said.

After saying goodbye to the teacher, Edith led her four younger brothers to the nearest fried chicken shop. This was the first time that she had been together with all four of her younger brothers in this life.
