Karen’s world collapsed with a deafening crash. She finally understood that ever since Cody set foot in the Lovett family, she had fallen into a trap meticulously prepared by Edith.

She thought, “That little schemer, Edith, led me step by step into darkness, luring me into infidelity. My marriage with Vincent can never continue.’

Cody was far too good at acting. There had even been a moment when Karen believed she had found love.

Seeing Karen lose her composure, Hallie also became flustered. She snatched the phone away.

Cody said coldly, “I’ve backed up all these photos. Deleting them won’t do anything.”

Hallie didn’t want to delete the photos. She just wanted to see if all of this was real. She had always despised Cody, yet her mother was in his arms, wearing that look on her face.

Seeing her mother act so intimately with that bodyguard, Hallie felt her mind reel. Her fingers loosened, and the phone clattered to the ground.

Vincent said coldly, “Karen, if you agree to the divorce now, I’ll put a house in Hallie’s name for you and your daughter to live in. If you refuse, then we’ll see each other in court, but you won’t get a single cent.”

Karen clenched her fists tightly, her whole body trembling with anger. She thought, ‘This is all a damn conspiracy. They set me up from the very beginning. Six years of marriage, I have poured so much into it. Why should I walk away with nothing?

‘My daughter is also part of the Lovett family, so why should she be entitled to just one house? She should get half of everything in the Lovett family, not leave it all to those five little brats.’”

“I’ll get a lawyer,” Karen spat coldly. “Just you wait. I won’t make this easy for you.”

She was about to ask Cody to wheel her out, but then remembered how he’d betrayed her. Fixing him with an icy glare, she sneered, “Do you know what happens to people who betray me?”

Cody hunched his shoulders defensively and replied, “Mrs. Lovett, you’re the one who came onto me. As a single man, how was I supposed to resist? Anyway, my phone’s already broken. Whatever, just let it be. I’m not going to argue with you about this.”

He bent down, snatched up his phone, and dashed out in a panic, He’d already pissed off everyone in the Lovett family. If he didn’t run now, he’d be lucky to make it out without a broken leg.

Hallie pushed Karen’s wheelchair out of Lovett Manor. Standing at the entrance, Hallie glanced back at the three–story mansion, the shimmering pool, and the burst of summer flowers. All of them were out of reach now. None of them belonged to her anymore.

“Mom, what do we do now?” Hallie asked, her voice hollow and lost.

What she really wanted to ask was why her mother had cheated, why she wasn’t satisfied with being Mrs.

“That bodyguard came after me, but I always kept my boundaries. Why couldn’t Mom do the same?‘ Hallie thought bitterly.

But she didn’t ask. Karen gazed at the sky, thinking back to the year she was in her early twenties, when she fell in love with Vincent and plotted everything.

When she gave birth to Hallie, she hid away to do it. Life back then was truly bleak, as if it rained every single day.

She’d survived those hard times before. Compared to that, maybe this wasn’t so impossible after all.

She forced a smile and said, “First, we find a lawyer. I can at least get back half of the marital assets from these six years. And the beauty salon is something I built with my own hands. I have to get it back.”

Just as the two talked, a man in a sharp suit walked over. He stopped in front of Karen and said with gentlemanly poise, “Mrs. Lovett, I’m not sure if you remember me, but I believe we met three years ago.”

Karen narrowed her eyes, thinking for a moment, but she couldn’t recall him.

Karen shot him a guarded look and asked, “Is there something you need?”

“I am Pearson Zimmerman, General Manager of the Zimmerman Group. Three years ago, I tried to cooperate with the Lovett Group, but Vincent humiliated me. I’ve held a grudge ever since,” the man said with a cold smile.

“I heard that you and Vincent are going through a divorce. Perhaps there’s some way I could be of assistance?” he added.

Karen frowned. She felt the name sounded odd. And someone offering help at this critical moment made her

suspicious.

She softened her tone and asked, “Mr. Zimmerman, what do you want from me?”

Pearson looked her up and down, a smirk on his lips as he said, “Mrs. Lovett, you’re really something. You’ve still got that spark, even after what happened to your legs. How about you come over to my place for a while?”

Karen immediately understood the adult implication. If she and Vincent weren’t embroiled in a divorce, she wouldn’t enter a man’s home in broad daylight.

She thought, ‘But now that Vincent has discovered the bed photos with Cody, it’ll make no difference if I sleep with another man.

‘Moreover, even if this man tries to deceive me, I have nothing left now. What can he possibly take? I have to win this divorce, no matter what it costs me.

Karen turned to Hallie and said, “Hallie, you go on back to our place. I’ll come home a little later.”

Hallie forced a smile and replied, “Alright, I’ll head back then.”

After Hallie left, Karen followed the man into a nearby villa. He pushed her wheelchair into the living room, and the two of them had a long, engaging conversation, discussing the divorce case in detail. In the end, the man politely escorted her out.

Karen was a little taken aback. He had helped her selflessly, and she had assumed it was for ulterior motives. Yet here he was, sending her off politely.

Standing at the door, the man asked politely, “Do you need me to arrange a driver to take you home?”

Karen shook her head and answered, “No, I can manage on my own.”

Her hands wrapped around the wheels, Karen slowly guided herself away from the villa.

As soon as Karen had left, the man took out his phone and made a call. He said, “Hello, is this the police? I’d like to report a missing item from my house. It’s worth around six million.”

The sun was sinking low in the sky. The weekend day came to an end before anyone realized.

After dropping Shaun off at school, Edith had the driver take Cedric over to his school. Once that was done, the three of them finally returned to Lovett Manor together.

At home, only the attendants were present. Dallas was reviewing the menu for tomorrow. Seeing Edith enter, he said quietly, “Earlier today, Mrs. Lovett and Hallie came back. They had a disagreement with Mr. Lovett about the divorce.”

Edith asked, “Where’s my dad now?”

“Mr. Lovett received a call. An important overseas client has arrived in Sunspire, so he went out to have dinner with him,” Dallas continued. “As for the attendants of Mrs. Lovett, I’ve dismissed them. If you feel the need, I can hire some staff again.”

Edith rejected. Karen has always acted like royalty. After marrying in, she employed seven or eight attendants, one for her gowns, another for her jewelry, one for the wine cellar, and even a gardener for her flowers. Each attended solely to Karen.
