Reborn, She's Back for Revenge novel Chapter 45

Kane led the way. Edith trailed behind him. She recognized him as the bodyguard who had stopped her at the school gate that day.

Strangers had sneaked into the Lovett Manor a few nights ago, and someone had tried to kidnap Dodo last night. She suspected they might be the same group.

Since they were so determined to show up at the Lovett family’s party, she didn’t mind meeting them face to face. She followed Kane around the corridor, and just as she reached the private lounge area.

Suddenly, someone barreled straight into her. A full glass of wine splashed all over her chest, trickling down her collar and soaking her from head to toe in seconds.

Edith looked up, only to meet Noreen’s taunting eyes. Suddenly, memories from her previous life came rushing back.

She remembered wearing a purple gown at that party. But just an hour after she put it on, she started feeling dazed and out of it. After that, she couldn’t remember a thing.

“Oh no, Edith, your dress is soaked. Come on, I’ll take you to the dressing room to change.” Noreen’s voice echoed in Edith’s mind. “Edith, you can barely stand. Just lean on me, I’ll help you inside.” Noreen coaxed her back then.

Those voices kept ringing in her ears as her legs went weak, and she was half–dragged back to the dressing room. By the time she came, there was a man lying on top of her, and everyone around was staring at her in judgment.

Even though the guy hadn’t actually done anything, even though nothing really happened between them, she still became the butt of everyone’s jokes. Just to protect the Lovett family’s reputation, Karen made her marry him.

“Edith, I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to…” Noreen’s voice rang out, snapping Edith back to the present.

It was the exact same tone as in her memories, the voices from past and present blending together. So, it was Noreen all along. She was one of the people who had schemed against her in her previous life.

“Your clothes are all ruined. Let me help you to the dressing room to get cleaned up,” Noreen said as she came over and supported Edith by the arm.

She didn’t shake her off, but instead looked at Kane. “Tell your sir to wait a bit. I need to change.”

Edith was soaked from head to toe, so it really wasn’t appropriate for her to go over right now. Kane nodded, turned toward the private lounge, and respectfully said, “Mr. Larson, Ms. Lovett had wine spilled on her. I’ll bring her over after she changes.”

Marcus saw everything that just happened. He’d witnessed scenes like this countless times back in the Bonrea. He idly rubbed his fingers and instructed coolly. “Get a dress ready for her and send it over in three minutes.”

Kane was momentarily stunned. ‘He was still wearing yesterday’s dirty clothes himself, yet he actually had the mind to get a fancy dress ready for someone else?‘ Kane wondered.

But Marcus‘ decisions weren’t something he could question. He asked, “Mr. Larson, what kind of dress do you want to prepare for Ms. Lovett?”

Marcus’s narrow eyes lifted slightly as he glanced over the party hall, his slender fingers pointing out. “At the very least, it should be pricier than what she’s wearing now.”

Kane followed his gaze and saw Hallie. She was hands down the most eye–catching person at the party tonight, absolutely dripping with jewels. He instantly got what Marcus meant and nodded. Then he turned and headed out of the party hall.

Right next to the Harmonia Hotel was a boutique. With all the parties going on year–round, business was always booming. As long as you had the cash, you could walk out with the priciest, fanciest gown in the place,

Edith was helped back to the dressing room by Noreen. It wasn’t until they reached the door that she suddenly remembered she’d left that rascal Dodo in there.

Just as she was about to think of an excuse to send Noreen away, she noticed the door was already open and the room was empty.

Frowning, she walked in and spotted the game console lying on the floor. There were no signs of a struggle anywhere. Looked like Dodo

had snapped out of it and left on his own.

He was always like this, popping up out of nowhere and then vanishing in a hurry before anyone could react.

“Wow, this purple dress is gorgeous,” Noreen said as she walked over to the sofa and pulled the dress out of the bag. “It ties up in the back, so you probably can’t manage it alone. Let me give you a hand.”

own?

Noreen looked confused. “I’m the one who got your clothes dirty, so, of course, I came on my own. What does Hallie have to do with it?” Edith smiled. Since this was all Noreen’s own idea, Edith figured she wouldn’t go easy on her.

“Ms. Lovett, this is the dress our sir prepared for you,” Kane said as he brought the dress in and set it on the coffee table. “Mr. Larson said you should take care of your own matters first. There’s no rush to meet him afterward.”

It wasn’t that Marcus wanted Edith to handle her own business. He just needed a few minutes to slip over to the boutique next door, grab a quick shower, get his hair styled, and change into a crisp new suit.

Even a regular dress from this designer would cost over 150 thousand, but this one had hand–embroidered patterns done by the designer himself. It was easily worth 300 million, and there were plenty of people lining up to buy it.

The Reed family was wealthy, but there was no way they’d ever drop 300 thousand dollars on a single dress.

‘Who on earth was that guy, and why the hell is he giving such an expensive dress to that bitch Edith?‘ Noreen thought, her mind racing.

Noreen stared as Edith took the dress out, her eyes glued to every movement. It was a dark emerald green velvet elegant, with sculpted ruffled details that still gave off a youthful vibe.

Just one look, and Noreen fell for it instantly. She just couldn’t stand the idea of Edith being the one to wear it.

gown, classic and

Swallowing down her jealousy, Noreen forced a smile. “Honestly, I think the purple one is way better on you. It makes you look so lively and cute. This dark green one is just too mature, like something a woman in her thirties would wear.”

Edith shook her head. “Guess our sense of style just doesn’t match.”

Noreen gritted her teeth. ‘If that bitch really walked out there in that dark green dress, she’d steal the whole show and outshine everyone. There was no way I was going to let that happen, she thought.

Just as Noreen was about to say something, Edith suddenly smiled and said, “You know, I actually think this green dress would look perfect on you. You’re so bubbly. It’d really bring your charm. How about I help you try it on?”

Noreen’s jaw nearly hit the floor. ‘Did I just hear that right? Is this bitch seriously offering to help me put on a dress worth 300 thousand dollars?‘ she thought.
