CH 11

She didn’t take the flowers from Jace when he held them out to her, and stated “I’m sorry, Nora Im a terrible Mate, it seems. Please do forgive me, I’ve not been a Mate before and being 130, I’ve apparently forgotten the things one should do for their Mate” His tone was gentle and cajoling, she thought.

She could see Gloria watching them from her office and played her hand. “So much so you didn’t even know it was my birthday. Perhaps you’ll remember next year, and maybe as your Mate I’ll get a party, like the Luna is getting this weekend. Big and lavish with everyone invited to attend. Oh, I’m sorry

Her eyes moved right past him to Gloria now, and she smiled right at her. “I didn’t get an invitation, yours Jace is, however, I believe, on the fridge in the Alpha Suite.” She stated in a cold, hard, flat tone and turned her eyes back to him.

It was a handwritten invitation that read “Jace, I invite you to my, your Luna’s birthday party, Gloria” it had been placed in her suite a few days ago, by Gloria herself. Nora knew this because she’d seen Gloria coming out of the suite and asked her what she was doing in there? “Just popping my birthday invite on the fridge as a reminder for you,” she’d stated with a smile.

And yes, it was a full reminder to her that she, Nora, was not invited to that party for her, Gloria his Luna. It would spoil her day, she supposed. Having to share Jace’s time with her, the unwanted person in their three person relationship, where only two should exist.

“What?” he stated a little on the shocked side, and she saw him turn and look right at Gloria and then back to ber. Tm certain it’s an invitation for both of us Nora, you’ve just read it wrong, is all.”

“Oh, did I, would you like to come and see it, I know you don’t eat meals in the kitchen of our suite, so it’s unlikely you’ve seen it.” she stated, “Come I’ll show you, and put these flowers in a vase at the same time.” She smiled at him, yes let’s see what he does with this one. “I love the flowers.” She stated and smelled them. Slipped her hand through the crook of his arm and led him towards the stairs.

“Jace.” She heard Gloria call out to him and felt him halt in his steps and turn to look at her. Of course, he would. It was what he always did. The woman he loved was calling out to him, and so she had his undivided

attention.

Nora let his arm go, and he looked at where her hand had been, almost as if he couldn’t believe she’d let him go. “Jace, I wrote that invite months back and forgot about it, what it stated.” She hurried over to him, to them. “It is meant for the both of you, of course it is.” she stated..

Nora saw him smile at Gloria and nodded. “Ah, a simple mix–up I see, you’ll not make that mistake again, will

you, Gloria?”

“Of course not,” Gloria nodded and turned and walked away as if she didn’t need to apologize to Nora for the mistake. It was a full insult to the Alpha’s Mate, but because she meant nothing to him, he didn’t see a need for Gloria to apologize at all. He watched her walk away, all the way to her office before he turned his eyes turned back to Nora, and he stated, “See just an error is all, no harm done.”

She raised an eyebrow at him, then just walked away from him altogether and dumped those flowers in the nearest bin, and she heard him gasp out “Nora.” It appeared he was in a state of disbelief that she had rejected his flowers.

I’m going to study” she stated, and walked off up the stairs.

“You’re being childish about this, an innocent mistake is all it was, Gloria admitted to it, and you used that to just toss my apology aside.” He grated out at her.

If you can’t see what is wrong, right this minute that is on you, not me.” she turned to face him “Yes, I am a child in your eyes. It’s how you see me, I now realize. Not as a woman, just a child. Well, I can act like one, if that’s what you want.” She stated “Spoiled, self–centered and petulant.” She turned and stomped off up the stairs as if she was a petulant child throwing a fit

She walked right into the Alpha Suite and pulled that invitation off the fridge and stalked into his bedroom and tossed it on the bed. Just to make sure that he saw it, the very words that were on it about Gloria being his Luna. To show him just how much that woman he was in love with, was ****g up all his plans, for him to

have his cake and eat it too.

Because with words like that, why would she, Nora, ever consider giving him an heir? With words like that, she might just consider rejecting him and going on home. That was what she wanted him to think, so he would go down there and have a piece of that b***h that he loved. Yell at her for screwing things up, when

they needed Nora in his bed for the time being.

She heard him bang into

Suite just as she was about to walk into her study room and grate out her name. She looked right at him. “It’s on your bed, where you won’t miss it. Go read it for yourself.” She shot at him and banged into her study room, slammed that door as hard as he had slammed the suite door to show him, she was just as mad as he was.

She wasn’t, it was all an act on her part, but he didn’t know that; she could play the part she’d given to herself. She stood and waited in the middle of her room to see what he would make of that invite. Would he come in here and apologize or just blip over it altogether? She didn’t know what he would do.

Put on a show for her, his Mate, by going and rounding on the woman he actually loved and wanted, or would he just tell her it was a simple mistake once again, and to let it go. She was curious as to how much he thought he was getting away with. She did know he didn’t know she’d heard him that day, because he’d never once brought it up or told her it was a mistake, pleaded with her to forgive him or stated she’d miss heard

him.

He was completely unaware that she knew what he’d said, though he couldn’t be so f*****g stupid as to think she didn’t feel it every single time he touched Gloria, though it was possible that he didn’t know she knew it was Gloria she supposed. But again, she’d seen them with her own two eyes.

He walked into her room and blinked at her standing there waiting for him. “Explain that in a way I, as your Mate, can understand it’s a mistake.” She stated and watched him look at it, knowing he was trying to figure

out a way to do so.

She, as his Mate should be called the Luna, or Future Luna at least, There was no envelope to that invitation, a simple pretty red and gold card with a handwritten message on it. “She dropped it off personally, placed it right on the fridge like that. She saw it and knew what she’d written. It wasn’t a mistake, Jace.” She stated

point blankly.

He frowned deeply and then sighed to himself, “I’ll have words with her about it.”

“Words?” she questioned “Yet again you yell at me, and call me childish, but will just have calm words with her about that. What Mate of an Alpha wouldn’t be upset by those words written there? If you don’t want me

as your Mate, then just reject me, and be done with it,” she stated flatly.

His head whipped right up, and his eyes went wide as he stared at her, more than shocked by her words and she knew it. “She didn’t even apologize to me, you have yet to apologize for your Lune’s error Just guing to g down and have calmly spoken words with her I’m not the one who’s in the wrong, but yet aga

me,” she spat at him.

“Calm down, clearly there was a miscommunication fill make sure that something like this. He wave invitation at her. “Doesn’t ever happen again. You are my Mate, Goddess Gifted at that, I’m not willing you over something like this. It can be worked out. Please take a moment to calm down, and we’ll durusa in like adults later on,” he stated, and turned and left the suite

Like adults? She thought to herself, yes, find a way to call me childish without actually having to say it asshole. Go down there and tell her to rein it in because I just threatened to leave you, and you can’t he that now, there’s no her yet. She walked over and closed the door to her study room, no longer interested whatever he did

Not even whether he’d go down there and rant and rave at Gloria, because she didn’t think that he would, and threatening him, would he now hold himself back from touching that she wolf due to her very words about a rejection having come from her
