She found herself face to face with Matt, Jace’s Gamma, the following morning. He walked right into the room and looked right at her. She watched his head tilt as he switched himself on. Nora raised an eyebrow and tilted her head right back in the same manner, and he blinked at her.

He would get nothing from her, because she didn’t care to feel anything at all anymore. She’d gotten it all out yesterday. “Go ahead, see what you can feel.” She stated as she stared right back at him uncaringly.

He frowned at her and then seemed to let it go. She was not so stupid as to think he’d be switched off as he walked over to the side of the bed. “You nearly succumbed to a full bloodlust yesterday. What is going on?

You were fine the day before.”

“Hmm, was I? Then I suggest that you ask your Alpha,” she shrugged. “But you were there, you saw it, felt me feel it yet…” she looked right at him pointedly. “He denied it.”

“He didn’t touch anyone. We were all there.” He frowned at her.

“Hmm, then pray tell me what did I feel that set off that bloodlust? I don’t think curiosity or annoyance would. do you?”

“No,” he muttered, “But betrayal does. What happened to Rosa?”

She might be laughing, but that was because beating a Gamma at his own game was amusing to her. “I think you’re broken.” She snorted. “Can’t even do your Goddess–gifted job, maybe it’s time for a new Gamma!” she

stated.

Nora watched annoyance cross his face, and then he turned and walked away. He stopped at the door and looked right at her. She waved at him with a merry smile on her face, and then burst out laughing as he stalked off away from the room.

“Can you stop that for just a few minutes?” he muttered, and she heard the annoyance in his tone.

“No,” she stated, “I’m educating myself, so that one day I’ll be useful to someone.” She told him.

Her laptop was snapped shut by him, and she barely got her fingers out of the way. She turned angry eyes on him as he removed it from the table, and he stalked across the room and put it on another bed.
