She woke up and got out of bed, got herself dressed and left the pack in her car. The sun was barely even on the horizon. But it was an hour to the city, and she could stop and get breakfast on the way. If she was. hungry, that was, she didn’t feel hungry at all, and she’d not even had dinner.

She’d driven away from the pack and into the city and strolled around a park while drinking coffee she’d gotten from a drive–through. She sat and just waited for the stores to be open before going and taking her phone to the store to get a new one. The man behind the counter had stared at her head and then her phone

and then looked at her more than curiously.

She knew that bruise was still there, a nice purple color around the skin tear. She’d told Rosa not to heal it, but to the man staring at her now she stated “It got crushed. I was hoping you could retrieve the sim card.” She’d asked, then stood and watched him try. He’d managed to get it out, only for her to see it was also damaged. She had sighed to herself and chosen a new phone. She had it set up with a new number and called her parents as she left the store, and headed for the bank.

She needed to set up the banking app on her new phone and didn’t have the right details for that on her. The app, frustratingly, wouldn’t verify her, but she knew going to the bank. They could help her. All it would take was her bank card and her license to prove who she was

She told her parents about her grades and heard them congratulate her and really mean it. They were happy for her, she could hear it in their voices. Then they were yelling to her sister about it, and she heard Nita yell out congratulations before she came to the phone a moment later and told her “1 knew you could do it. Never a doubt Nora.” They were her personal cheer squad, and she loved them and thanked the Goddess for them.

Though her mother had then asked her why she had a new number? “My phone got destroyed yesterday, the sim card was completely destroyed.” She’d sighed heavily to herself, she couldn’t even afford the same phone she’d had, and she’d had to go with something cheaper, hadn’t like it. But such was her life at the moment, it would get better shortly.

Her mother had been quiet for a long moment and then asked why the phone company couldn’t give her the same number. She wasn’t so dumb, “Honestly, I chose another phone and carrier service, so I had to change my number is all,” she stated, but deep down she’d changed it just in case Jace knew her phone number, and she didn’t want him to have it anymore, didn’t want anyone inside that pack to have her number, so changing It had resolved that. She could take this phone with her, and he’d never be able to call her.

They’d chatted the entire time she was walking, and she only ended the call when she was at the bank. She walked in and got in line like all the others there, stood there and used the wait time to download her university’s app and logged into it without issue.

Closed the app and waited until her turn and stepped up to the counter when called by the bank teller. She explained the issue to the teller, and was getting help with it when a man yelled about no one moving.

She’d turned her head as many others did, to see what the issue was, only to see a man waving a gun around. She could see from where she stood that the safety was on, the bloody ***t was making an idol threat. She looked at the teller and rolled her eyes, “What an ***, who robs a bank in person.” She muttered,

“Why?” she asked right back, turning to look at him, “You do your business, and I’ll conduct mine.”

He pointed that gun right at her and the teller gasped and instinctively rolled her chair back hastily to get out of the way. “Do you want to die today?” the gunman snapped.

Her eyes moved to the gun in his hand. He wasn’t even holding it steady, it was shaking in his hand. “Do you really want to become a murderer, instead of just a bank robber? That jail sentence is much worse, you know. Could see to getting you the death penalty in this state.” She countered, humans with guns didn’t bother her, let alone one that didn’t know how to take the safety off. She’d grown up in Texas, guns were normal. He was an i***t. She turned back to the teller, “Can you hit that button to send me the code please.”

She could hear the sirens coming, knew the police were on their way, the silent alarm had been tripped, and then she felt that muzzle of the gun pressed up against her head and she sighed “Really.” She turned and looked right at him “I’m not afraid of you or your gun.” She stated and pressed her forehead right to it “Pull the trigger I dare you. I can hear the sirens. Can’t you. You ain’t making it out of this building without handcuffs.”

“You think you’re so smart and brave, but you’re stupid really.” He spat at her.

“Hmm, but I’m also distracting you to the point that the police are almost here, so you can’t get away. Who’s the stupid one really? Got your money yet?” she asked right back with a full snort of amusement. As she saw the police pulling up outside, she saw him turn and look at them, and laughed. “You’re an idiot.” She stated, ” Who the hell robs a bank in this day and age.”

Rosa surged forward as she snapped her hands up to grab his wrist and snap it down to the floor, at full wolfen speed. Squeezed the hell out of his wrist until she heard his bones c***k, and he let go of the gun, and it clattered to the floor as he cried out in pain. She snapped a knee up into his face and busted his nose, and then she kicked the gun across the floor away from him. Shoved him down on the floor and held him there until the police came inside.

She stood up to a lot of people gasping and calling her crazy. As he was cuffed by a police officer, Nora turned and looked at the teller. “Can you please press the button and send me the code?” The teller finally nodded and reached out and did so.
