Revenge served in a black dress (Nora and Jace) novel Chapter 35

She walked out of the hospital after sleeping most of the afternoon and some of the night, uncaring of the

advice given to her by the nurses and then Carlos himself, but she did not want to be in that Luna’s Medical

Suite anymore, and had enough strength to get out of the bed and walk.

She was barely outside the front doors when she saw Jace coming, running towards her. She rolled her eyes and wondered why he bloody bothered at all. She wasn’t on her own. There was a nurse walking with her.

Carlos had insisted on it, seeing that she wouldn’t stay in the hospital.

“Why are you up and ignoring the doctor’s orders?he asked, coming to a stop just before her. You need to

be in the hospital, Nora.

She stepped around him and walked on past him only to find Matt coming as well. She smiled right at him.

You wanna go round two?” she asked as he opened his mouth to talk to her.

No,he muttered, But you need to be in a bed, preferably a hospital bed.

Well, that is not up to you,” she stated point blankly. The first person that touches me will get bit.She grated out as she saw Jace appear before her once more and reach out for her. She glared right at him, Or didn’t you learn the first time, that I biteand then she walked around him once more.

the sno

snorted, amused with herself, she was going to bite anyone that tried to make her stay in that Luna’s Medical Suite, and be surrounded by Gloria’s things. She heard both Jace and Matt sigh, and Jace mutter

Just let her go where she wants.

I

Carlos said I had to escort her to her room. He’ll come and check on her in the morning unless the wound opens up again, Alpha, and then you’re to call Carlos right away about it.

Like he would know if that happened, Nora thought, she didn’t live with him anymore, and had no intentions of doing so either, and he certainly wasn’t going to be staying in the room she’d chosen for herself. She walked on, but had to take two breathers and nearly doubled over at one point, going up the hill to the packhouse. Why the hell would anyone build a packhouse at the top of a freaking hill was beyond her.

Matt had gone off to get a car, and it was driven next to her as she walked. She refused to get in it. She didn’t

want his help. Where had he been all those months she’d suffered? She walked into the packhouse, and, for

the first time ever, took the elevator to the top floor. She leaned on the wall in there and closed her eyes; she was utterly exhausted, and she knew it

Nora, you should sit down, the nurse told her gently.

Tll get right in my bed.She murmured in response, and she would.

T’ll give you something for the pain when you’re comfortably in a bed.” Her nurse sighed as the elevator moved between floors. I don’t understand why you won’t let us take care of you in the Luna’s Medical Suite

I’ll take care of myself. No one here needs to be concerned about my wellbeing. She opened her eyes as the elevator stopped, and she pushed off the wall, wincing in pain and gritted her teeth and bared it. As she stepped out, she saw Jace and Matt coming down the hallway. They’d not gotten in the elevator with her.

She turned away from them and headed for her room. The Alpha Suite is the other way,her nurse stated,

sounding confused.

I don’t live in there. She stated, Not my place.

WWhat? Now she sounded really confused and Nora saw her turn and look at her Alpha questioningly. Because where else should his Mate reside, but in the Alpha Suite.

She didn’t care what the pack thought about it anymore, didn’t really care about anything much at all herself, was too damned tired right this very minute. He could explain to the pack; that although she was his mate, she’d never be his Luna, and that was why she opted to sleep elsewhere. They were in her eyes over and done

with.

She walked all the way to her room and pushed open the door, all her things were still in there, and she walked across the room and just climbed into the bed and kind of just sagged onto the mattress exhausted. She wasn’t like everyone else anymore.

Nora, I’ve got your pain relief ready, her nurse stated.

She nodded, wanted it. Her whole body ached from being hit with that car and then the surgery as well. She felt it get pushed through the canula on the back of her hand and sighed, Oh that’s nice.” As she felt her pain.

start to fall away and then darkness claimed her as well.

She woke to find her handbag and phone on the bedside table, and food on a cart next to her bed. It was daylight, and the curtains were open and there was a gentle breeze blowing through the open windows. Her

eyes moved about the room; it had been tidied, she’d noted.

She’d not unpacked, just dumped her suitcases on the ground and opened them. Now she could see they were neatly sitting next to each other by the open walkin and her clothes were hung up in there. Though she was alone in the room, there was a bottle next to her phone and a note card that read for your pain, take two every six hours, Carlos That Canula was also gone, and a little bandaid was there in place of it. She’d slept through the doctor’s checkup, she guessed.

She pushed herself up into a sitting position and grimaced as pain radiated across her abdomen, but it was a little less than it had been when she’d woken up in the hospital. She looked at the food on the tray, a light. meal suitable for postsurgical digestion, she supposed

She got up and used the bathroom, took a shower and grimaced at her very bruised face and arms. Not much she could do about it. She pulled on a simple dress and went to eat something. She was actually hungry and knew she did need to eat, even if it was only to keep her strong enough to leave.

She walked over, collected her phone and then carefully sat down on the couch before her laptop, looked at the vase of flowers on the table before her and frowned, that hadn’t been there the last time she’d been in

here, and the envelope nestled among the flowers which had the words My Lunawritten on them.

She didn’t even open it. Just mindlinked to one of the omegas she knew and had her come to the room and had her take those flowers to the Luna’s office. She wasn’t the Luna, he’d made that perfectly clear; they’d been delivered to the wrong shewolf. The omega looked at her, read the card and frowned a little. “They are for Gloria.” She stated to the omega, Delivered to the wrong room is all. Take them down to the packs Luna,” Nora told her dismissively.

She watched the omega just nod slowly and pick them up and leave the room. She picked her phone up and saw there were several missed calls from her parents, and she called them as she leaned on the couch, and leaned her head back on the top of it. She was she realized exhausted just from taking a shower and getting

dressed.

Her mother picked up on the second ring. She was waiting by the phone, in other words, for her to call. Tm fine, mumshe murmured at her mother’s concerned words

You don’t sound fine.

I’m tired to be honest, exhausted from just taking a shower.”

What happened to you? We couldn’t reach you and.. I called Jace, but he said you were in surgery. He didn’t know what was wrong with you? I didn’t want to hear it from him after that.

Hmm, the doctor told me I had a ruptured fallopian tube, from something called an ectopic pregnancy.

Sweetie, I’m sorryHer mother sighed heavily, she obviously understood what it meant.

Don’t be, I’m fine. Survived. She stated and adjusted her sitting position to be more comfortable.

Do you want me to come there and look after you?

No,she answered simply. There are nurses and doctors here that can do that. I’ll be fine in a few days.”

A few days? Why would it take that long? Rosa should heal you in a matter of hours postoperative. She could hear the frown and concern in her mother’s voice.

She’s out of action at the moment is all.” and as she said it, she wondered if leaving the pack for a few hours would see her wolf rise up and heal her. It would still be slowgoing, but maybe it would help not just her but Rosa to be on the surface and come back to her, be good for her wolf.

Is everything else, okay? I get the feeling you’re not telling me something important. Her mother murmured.

It’s the same here as it has always been, she told her simply, honestly.

You’re injured.” Her mother muttered.

Mm. Not something anyone could have prevented.Nora stated, and from what she’d heard from Carlos it wasn’t. No one’s fault, just my body not working properly. And that thought made her wonder if it was because of how Rosa was, sometimes there other times not. Or was it just that she nor Rosa wanted to have Jace’s pup and so something had gone wrong with it. Maybe it was divine intervention.

Where is Jace?her mother asked.

In his office,” she commented. She didn’t know if he was, just presumed that would be a good enough

answer.

Why isn’t he with you, taking care of you?she could hear the frown in her mother’s voice once more. She had a Mate and if injured her father wouldn’t leave her alone for even a minute unless he was going to the bathroom or getting her something she needed. It’s how most Mates were; loving and doting, their need to take care of their injured Mate kind of overrode everything unless there were children to be looked after as

well

Even then, a Mate would normally find someone to take care of the children to be by their Mate’s side. It was the Mate Bond in effect. Not something she had with her Mate. I don’t want him to be here. I’m just sitting here, he doesn’t need to be doing that as well, he’s got an entire pack to run.” She told her mother, It’s fine.

with me..
