CH 36
Jace
He’d mind–linked to the pack florist himself last night to have flowers delivered to Nora’s room first thing this morning. She’d told him she would open the store early for him, because he wanted to handwrite the card himself, to show Nora he’d done it himself, not tasked it to another; that he had personally made an effort.
Robyn was standing making up the bunch of flowers they’d discussed last night. She’d gotten up very early and gone into the city to get what he wanted, because she didn’t have it in stock, and been home by 7am.
He’d been waiting for her at her store when she came back. He watched her bundle the two dozen yellow roses neatly and place them in a clear vase and tie a yellow ribbon around the stems to sit perfectly under the flowers and drape down the vase.
He’d told her which room to take it to and then had looked around the florist store itself and seen all the yellow flowers in there and sighed, before stating, “I don’t want any yellow flowers being delivered to anyone inside this pack today, especially not to the packhouse. I don’t care who tries to order them. Refuse it under my Order. Any other color is fine.” He’d told her, “Only Nora will get yellow flowers delivered to her today, do you understand me?”
“Yes, Alpha. Only yellow flowers to Nora, regardless of who calls and wants flowers as well,” Robyn repeated him.
“Correct.” He nodded. “Regardless of rank, not even if Gloria calls for flowers, deny it, tell her I stated no one, not even her, can have yellow flowers today,” he reaffirmed.
“Yes, Alpha.” She nodded.
He’d looked at the card and thought about what to write. He’d nearly lost his Goddess–Gifted Mate, and she was so very mad at him, she wouldn’t even let him touch her, not even a simple gesture of brushing her hair from her face, or holding her hand, and she had threatened to bite him once more. Though she’d also threatened to bite Matt too. Though the nurse, Glenda, was allowed to help her with everything.
He’d not been happy she’d left the hospital and then wouldn’t even accept a car ride to the packhouse from Matt either. It wasn’t a short walk, and she’d really struggled with the hill, his mate was furious with not only him, but the pack Gamma as well. She’d offered to go round two with him, something he knew Matt wasn’t going to do.
Apparently, she’d gotten him to back off herself. Nora had made the pack’s Gamma retreat when it was in fact his job to never retreat. He was supposed to be able to handle all she–wolves, especially the Alpha’s Mate, and Luna. She was his actual job: to be there for her, to help calm her, and settle a Luna in distress.
He’d not been able to, and she’d laughed at him, called him broken, thought it was funny that he was even. Something was very wrong with Nora. He’d known for a while now, but he didn’t truly understand what it was,
until she’d nearly died, and he’d nearly lost her. The way she reacted to him upon waking up said it all. They
were completely broken, hardly a bond between them at all.
He thought about what to put on that card and had already written the words ‘My Luna‘ on the envelope. Because he needed her to see that she wasn’t just his Mate, but his Luna as well, she didn’t think she belonged in the Luna Medical Suite, because she wasn’t the Luna. That much he got loud and clear.

He was going to have to keep it simple. An olive branch was what was needed. Tik un thu this you, Jace‘ He wrote, showing her that he intended to work on Hangs with her, and that he told him wanted to tell her he was sorry about the pup, but she’d not once mentioned that had happe
bagumad to a Not to the pack doctor and none of the nurses, he knew because he’d asked them i dha had, trying her emotional state over it. There didn’t appear to be one for anyone to gauge
to gKA
He put the card in the envelope and watched Robyn place it on wider nestled wing the Somers, me he nodded “Deliver them now please, before she wakes up, the nurse told me the dose of morphine the wet given last night, should let her sleep until about nine this morning” he looked at his watch it was ready
She nodded, and he’d headed for his office. He couldn’t take the flowers up to her hirmulf, she dit were anything to do with him at all right this minute, and waking up to his scent in the room wouldn’t go down so well, or at least he didn’t think so.
Though he couldn’t really focus on pack training either, his head was all over the place. He had an ingred Mate, but she didn’t want to be anywhere near him, and the training grounds were too far from the packhouse for him to be comfortable going to,
Every fiber of his being told him to be up there in that room with her, but Matt had warned him not to be there when she woke up. He didn’t think it would go down so well. So, all he could do was be in the packhouse itself. She was still sleeping and settled. He could tell from the tether he had with her
He sat at his desk and worked while his unit ran training, and he saw the pack doctor head up there, Jace had flagged him down and stated, “I want a full report of her condition.”
“Of course, Alpha.” He’d nodded and moved on upstairs; Robyn was walking next to him, so at least he didn’t have to tell him where to go. Even the florist had raised an eyebrow at where he’d instructed her to deliver
those flowers.
The report had come back the same as yesterday. Her wolf wasn’t there to heal her, but the sutures were all still intact, there was a lot of bruising, and it would get worse before it got better if her wolf couldn’t rise and heal her. There was no fever or signs of infection. He’d removed the canula from her hand and left pain medication on the bedside with instructions. And advised only a light meal for digestion purposes for the next few days.
Jace had gone off and spoken to the kitchen staff about that very thing, and they’d nodded. Everyone inside this pack was going to know she’d left him by the end of the day. There was nothing he could do about it.
Moving her to his suite would only see a screaming match happen, and he knew it, because she didn’t want to be in there. She also couldn’t handle fighting with him right now, and if he was honest with himself, he didn’t want to fight with her anymore. He just wanted to fix things between them.
He had to leave her alone for now. That was all he knew, it’s what she wanted. So he would do that and f
those flowers would see the beginning of them being able to come back together. Though he had a headac… himself that just wouldn’t go away, and he knew it was because he was barely sleeping.
Being alone in his bed was not a comfortable or happy thing, and he wasn’t really sleeping at all. Knowing she was injured and didn’t want anything to do with him, he couldn’t even smell her inside the Alpha Suite anymore. She’d only been gone from it a few days and her scent was gone because all of her things were gone. There was nothing in that room to comfort him at all.

He worked quietly in his office and headed off to get coffee from the dining hall late in the morning, only to see Gloria coming out of her office with a yellow rose, twirling it about, smiling at it. He stopped walking as he watched her; he’d given explicit orders that no one in this pack, definitely not the packhouse, were to get yellow flowers.
That also wasn’t just any flower, but a yellow rose, something Robyn had gone into the city before sun–up to get him, just for Nora. How the hell had she gotten her hands on that? “Gloría,” He rapped out her name and she turned and smiled at him. “Where did you get that from?” he asked.
She smiled at the flower and pressed her nose to it to smell it. “They were delivered to my office this morning They are lovely. Thank you, Jace.”
He took that flower right from her hand and she blinked, as he turned and looked into her office and there was the entire bouquet of flowers he’d ordered for Nora. “Those flowers are not for you; they are for Nora,” he told her.
“Oh, I didn’t know that, an omega brought them to me just a little while ago, and the card read ‘My Luna‘” She
told him.
“Yes, and that would be Nora. I told you this when I realized the error I had made, that I am going to be solely
focused on Nora and our Mate Bond, that she is the future Luna, and you’ll be stepping down. Something I
should have done when she got here, I now realize.”
“Yes, but I’m still your Luna, so how was I supposed to know they weren’t for me?” she stated with a frown.”
It’s not like you haven’t sent me flowers before. I get them for my birthday and our anniversary every year,
they’re always addressed to the Luna.”
He was staring at her. “Did you read the card?” he muttered.
“Yes, of course I did. It was addressed to me,” she smiled at him. “I understand why you’re doing what you are doing.” She told him, “That you need to keep Nora here. I get it.”
“No, I don’t think you do. I explained this to you the other night, that Nora is the one I’m going to be with, should have always been with. You and I are over.”
“Oh, come on Jace.” She waved a hand in the air like he didn’t mean it.
“I meant it. I think it’s best you leave the acting Luna’s position, seeing as you don’t understand that is all you are. You are not the Luna to this pack, the acting only. If you can’t be that, then I release you from the position,” he stated and stalked off away from her. He had to go and talk to Nora. Those flowers were for her
but hadn’t seemed to have made it.
He mind–linked to Robyn on the way. “Did you give Nora those flowers?”
“Yes, put them in her living area,” she answered.
“Well, I just found them in Gloria’s office,” he grated out.
“I delivered them myself directly to Nora, I assure you,” she replied. “Fourth floor corner room at the eastern end of the packhouse.” She told him exactly where the room was.
