Revenge served in a black dress (Nora and Jace) novel Chapter 42

CH 42

Jace

But he didn’t know if it was going to be an easy fix at all, not with all he’d already screwed up. Everything was just compounding upon him now. It seemed he couldn’t do anything right where his Mate was concerned, and he had no one to blame for it but himself. But he needed to yell at someone and get it out, or he was likely to take it out on Nora at some point. Because that was him M.O.

Alpha, I’ve not seen Nora in here looking at anything. You’ve also never come in here and purchased anything for her to wear, not even for a normal mating ball inside this pack, so I don’t know what her style would bedoyou know?she asked, and even he caught the hesitation in her words.

He even knew it was because she didn’t think he would, which he bloody didn’t. It seemed he knew nothing about his own Mate, not even what dress size she was. There was plenty of pack talk since Nora had destroyed the Luna Suite, about what was going on between the three of them; him, Gloria and Nora.

And now it was out that she’d moved out of the Alpha Suite since being in the hospital. It was also out, that she did not want him to be in hospital with her. Had refused yet again to even be tended to in the Luna’s Medical Suite, he’d heard it himself. One of the offduty pack nurses stating, Nora doesn’t even feel like she belongs in the Luna Medical Suite, what do you think is going on?

The other had stated She destroyed the Luna’s Suite just last week; do you think the Alpha is cheating on his Mate?

He’d closed his eyes upon hearing it; they were, in fact, the very things Nora herself thought. Now here it was, real evidence that he knew nothing about his own Mate, he had royally f****d up and now had to find a way to fix his broken bond. Something that he now knew was also killing her wolf. Whatever was going on inside Nora’s mind, it was affecting her Wolf as well.

Not even Hydro could bring her to the surface; she’d fled at the mere sight of him. It seemed to him that she would only emerge if Nora was not inside this pack, which in turn could only mean that her beast didn’t want to be here or be mated to him or his Alpha Wolf.

He watched Zelda as she walked over and pulled an empty rack into the middle of the store.

No,” he answered her question honestly, because he did not know and there was no point in lying about it.

Alright,Zelda nodded. Then why don’t we just select one dress from all the different styles, and you can present her with many to choose from. What would you like to see her in? White, ivory, pack colors?” she questioned him.

n

I don’t know,he sighed, though he would wear pack colors. It was a full formal event. Not pack colors for her Luna dress. They are forest green, bloodred and navy blue. I don’t think a dark green dress is appropriate for a Luna Ceremony. Red is out,” it was Gloria’s favorite color and I think that navy blue will be too her, so I guess white or ivory would be good, though I did like that dress coloring.” He indicated to the dress bag.

He watched Zelda open the bag and nodded, Okay, that is champagne and white lace, we can sort that out. Though you’ll have to take something off the rack, I wouldn’t have the time to make one that is unique to her. That would take longer than a month to do, so you’d have to put it off until at least the full moon after that.

“I’m not doing that, it’s been too long now. I should have done it months ago. He murmured and ran a hand through his hair She’s only short, like five, six and a size six, she just told me do you have anything that with

fit her in stock?

Yes, and I can hem anything she likes to fit her height in a matter of a few daysZelda nodded, and he watched her walk along the racks of dresses and pull several out and hold them up to him one at a time. He either nodded or shook his head, No mermaid styles. He told her when she held out the third one to him

Alright. She moved along and pulled out many different dresses, and not all in champagne either. There were two Aline dresses, one in a color called blush pink and the other in a blush lavender, a ball gown in

ivory, and twocolumnstyle dresses, one in white lace, and another in white satin, an empire dress in white

silk, a fit and flare in blush with a beaded bodice, a highlow in pale blue, it was softer at the front and

deepened to almost navy blue at the back, there was a separate top and skirt in champagne with white embroidery on it. A champagne silk sheath dress with a little bit of white embroidery with a pleated sash feature, and two trumpet dresses, one with a white lace top and an ivory satin skirt and one champagne with a white sheer lace overlay.

He checked all the sizes himself, making sure they were all a six, so he knew that he’d at least gotten something right. Zelda walked with him all the way to the packhouse and pushed that dress rack with them.

He saw many wolves watching as they walked, including Gloria, from her new office doorway. She smiled at him and went to walk over to them, and he held a hand up to her, I don’t need nor want your opinion on

Nora’s dress, Gloria, walk away,he’d stated firmly, and she’d blinked at him and his tone.

Zelda walked with him right to Nora’s room, which was as far as one could get from the actual Alpha Suite up

here on the top floor. He supposed he was lucky she hadn’t just gone and moved into a single dorm to make

her point that she wasn’t going to be his Mate anymore.

Zelda looked at him with a deepening frown on her face as they walked, and he could only think that it was

dawning on her just how bad it was between her Alpha and his Mate. She was older than he was and mated.

She likely understood what it meant for a Mate to move out of their own home.

We’re currently fighting.” He muttered honestly.

Hmm, she can’t go to the Luna’s suite either, she murmured. I also heard through pack chatter that you

yelled at her the other day in front of your alliesabout she could have her Luna Ceremony when she wasn’t

being childish. She nodded, didn’t seem to be concerned about triggering his anger at the not so veiled

insulting of him, but she was considered an elder to the pack now.

He looked at her with a deep disapproving frown, and she raised an eyebrow at him, wasn’t at all concerned,

it seemed about being punished by him. He sighed and let it go as he wondered just how many of the pack

had heard that and were now gossiping about it as well or had been prior to her nearly dying the next day.

She moved in here that very day,he admitted.

Zelda nodded and smiled a little, not that he thought it was funny at all. Your greatgrandmother was very

stubborn as well, if I recall, she left the Alpha Suite many times, she’d bang right into the Luna’s suit to get

away from yourshe chuckled as I recall it, her words were Arrogant asshole of a Mate.

I hear all Lunas are difficult before getting their Luna Ceremony. He nodded; that was what Alpha Desmond

had told him.

Hmm, no not all, most are happy right off the bat.She smiled at him. If you’ll take a little advice from a

wolf that’s been mated for longer then you’ve been alive. calling your tats childish, not many would do that, Alpha, regardless of Rank. I get there is a very large age gap, and she might seem like a child to you at times

But she is not.

Just mind your words, Alpha, and perhaps you need to think about why you thought she was being childish Perhaps what you saw as childish was in fact something very important to her that day.

You come from two very different backgrounds, and you’re quite set in your ways. I’d address that first and apologize. She stepped back as they came to the door, and then she turned and walked away

He sighed as Zelda walked away. It might be safer if she went into that room with him, but then he just closed his eyes, he was the Alpha and shouldn’t need someone to be in a room with him and his Mate, just to stop a fight or argument from hatching between them.

He stood and thought about what Zelda had stated, what had ticked him off that day, it had been him thinking she didn’t want to stand next to him as the pack’s Lunabut she did, had turned up and stood next to him, onlyher using her phone while out there waiting to greet his allied had ticked him offhe’d taken her phone and thrown it away when she’d gone to look at it, he’d heard it ding

She’d been waiting for something, and whatever it had been, she’d been excited about it, he thought, as he recalled seeing the smile on her face. Only briefly though, before he’d lost his temper, she was expecting something, and it had simply clashed with the time of his allies arriving. She’d been pacing back and forth in the library that day, her phone in her hand,

He sighed as it dawned on him. He’d ruined something for her that day. She’d been more than upset about it as well. He’d ruined something and then called her childish over it. He scrubbed a hand over his face now, he just knew he was going to be in the wrong on whatever it was.

Was he game to ask and get his head bitten off for not knowing? He knew she was going to grate out words about him not caring, it was her go to of late, and he couldn’t even bloody argue it, He sighed to himself and shook it off. He could do it another day. Today was choosing a dress day. He had to get this right.
