Ch 48
Nora
It was late that night when she was woken by a mink–link from Gloria, and a part of her just wished that woman would leave her the hell alone. She didn’t disconnect it or even try to refuse it. Just allowed it, because she wanted to have that woman play into her scheme to pay them back.
Just because Jace told the pack I’m not the acting Luna doesn’t mean that I’m not attending to Luna duties, I’m just doing it from my room is all.
‘Alright. Nora stated simply, ‘Oh Luna, I have managed to secure accommodation outside of the pack. I was going to tell you tomorrow, but seeing as you’re linking me. Would you like to see the email I received, about moving in dates?’ she yawned as though she was still half asleep.
‘What are you playing at?‘ Gloria asked her.
“Nothing Luna, I’m just fulfilling our agreement, I’ll be moving out of the state completely in three weeks
‘Three weeks?‘
‘Yes, I’ll reject him as I stated I would. He is, however, planning a Luna Ceremony, what do you want to do
about that?‘ she asked curiously.
‘It’ll be tailored to me anyway. My color preferences, not yours. Don’t concern yourself with it, we’re planning that together. The pack might think this is about you, but it’s not. There was silence for almost a full minute”
Three weeks? That is when the full moon is.
‘I’m aware, I can move in to my accommodation on the Friday after the full moon. I did tell you I’d leave him on the full moon, and he could claim you that very day. Why don’t we align it up to the Luna Ceremony? That way you’re assured he’ll Mark you before the pack.
‘You’re scheming something, Gloria stated.
‘Yes, to reject him and leave. She stated simply, honestly, ‘I told you Gloria, you can have Jace, I meant that. I’m done to be honest with you, she sighed heavily, allowing for it to sound on the sad side. ‘I just want to leave. You’ll, however, continue to keep your word and make sure I will not feel any pains of betrayal between now and then, and I’ll give him to you willingly without so much as a fight. Yes?
‘Yes‘ Gloria stated ‘Not one pain will happen. However, if you change your mind, I will make you suffer the full pains and pull Jace into my bed like he wants to be. All of this is a mere pretense on his part, because of what happened with our allied pack Alphas here. He now has to be seen as giving you everything, because that is what they expect. But it means nothing, I assure you‘
‘I know he loves you; I actually heard him tell you that myself. I do believe Luna that his words that day were,‘ It’s just the mate bond, I love you, Gloria.‘ She told her what she’d heard that day, and there was a hollowness to those very words she didn’t even have to fake. ‘I tried to bring him to me many times, nothing worked. I now know that I cannot compete with the one that he loves‘ She murmured ‘I have tried and lost at every turn, you have won, there is no need to consider me a rival. I’m not. I will slink away and never come back to this pack. I just need to wait until my accommodation is available. Is all.‘
She heard Gloria laugh now and wondered if this pack knew just how cruel she was, but then again, so was

the Alpha. They suited each other, she thought absently. Complimented each other in looks and personality. ‘I would like a copy of that email about the details of your accommodation, to prove you’re not lying to me.‘
‘A screenshot do you, or would you like me to forward it to the Luna’s email?‘ Nora asked and rolled over in her bed and picked up her phone. As she wondered which Gloria would give her, the Luna email would likely now be only accessible to Jace and his unit, if what she suspected was in fact correct. That he was actually trying to get her to forgive him so they could work things out and be a fully bonded Goddess–Gifted pair.
‘Just send it to my phone, Gloria stated and rapped out a number.
‘Wait, I’ve got to unlock my phone and sort it out. Nora stated and accessed her email. She took a screenshot and then cropped the sender’s details from it but allowed for all the other information to be shown: the dorm name and room number allocation, the date from which she could move in. But nothing
about the actual university name or state it was in. ‘Repeat your number please, I’m ready. Nora told her.
Gloria rapped it out again and Nora put it in and clicked the send button. ‘I took out the university and state where I’ll be going to live, so that Jace can never find me, if he regrets it later on,‘ she stated and put her phone down. ‘I also don’t want you sending anyone after me to knock me off once I’m gone. Just to make
sure I’m of no threat.
There was silence for a full minute and Nora wondered if that was exactly what that woman was planning on doing. ‘I’ll not only reject him but sever myself from the pack, return to my old Alpha. He’s aware I’m leaving and is waiting for me to return there as well. I’ve sorted everything out on my end, Luna. I assure you I have
no intention of coming back.
‘A part of me doesn’t want to believe you.’
‘I don’t really care to be honest. I’ve already lost my wolf being here. I’m just a mere human now. You can come and check that for yourself if you like. Got the scars to prove it too. A permanent reminder of the one that doesn’t want me. she muttered ‘Every time I look in the mirror, I see the scar Jace gave me, right in the middle of my forehead, because he made me bow down to him, head to the floor, over insulting you, the day
before the last full moon.’
‘Well, you should know better than to insult the woman the Alpha loves. Gloria laughed.
‘I should, but it seems I was delusional that day, but I’ll put that down to hearing Alpha Desmond chastise Jace about his attitude where I was concerned. Maybe a part of me hoped he’d listen, but that, Gloria, was also the day I lost my wolf. She understood she was nothing to her own Mate, and the Alpha she’d pledged to love and be loyal to, in that very moment. She left me, so now I will leave. I will cause you no more trouble, I assure you.’ she sighed ‘I’d like for you to return the favor of leaving me alone as well.’
‘Deal.’ Gloria stated, and there was a smug happiness in her voice.
Gloria actually believed she’d won the game, when she had no idea what the game actually was. She would give that she–wolf everything she wanted and when she left and stated her reasons before the pack. Jace would see that treating her the way he had, as a breeder for him and his lover, was the biggest mistake of his
life.
He was going to turn on Gloria, and she was never going to get what she wanted from him. She was going to punish that man and the woman he loved. He might have changed his mind right now about what he wanted,
but it was far too late for her not to know she was nothing to him.
Just a second–place holder, if Gloria could have given him pups, he’d likely have claimed her decades ago,

and none of this would be happening to her at all. Because he’d have just rejected her when he’d come across her, that full moon for her now was just a horrible fateful night of her life that she wished had never happened at all.
Why oh why? Hadn’t she opted to study on campus right from the very beginning, it would likely have solved everything, because she’d never have been in her home pack when he was there. It was very unlikely that she would ever have met him. The two packs hadn’t been affiliated at the time.
So, it was very unlikely she’d have met him, because if she had been on campus, she’d have been living there for a good eight years. And then she would have worked in her home packs city office likely to have lived in an apartment complex in the city even.
That had been the plan inside her mind, while she’d been in that pack. Something she’d discussed with Luna Nelly, who’d smiled at her and stated she could see her way to making that happen when the time came. Which Nora now knew would also have seen her not come across that man that would be her so–called Mate.
Mating balls weren’t mandatory in her home pack either, so she didn’t have to go home for them. The pack members there were allowed the freedom to not attend if they weren’t ready to have a Mate. They could stay in the city or at university until they felt they were ready to have a Mate, and start a family.
Something she knew many of the she–wolves did: They went off and got their degrees before actively looking for a Mate. Most in her home pack didn’t even start looking for a Mate or thinking about one, not really, until they were 22 years old. It was what she had been planning on doing. It just seemed the Goddess hadn’t
listened to her wishes was all.
