Jace

He’d started to make his amends, gotten rid of Gloria from the Luna’s office and made that all–important pack–wide mind–link, though getting Nora into it had been more than difficult. She might call firm Alpha and claim to be just a pack member; but she was his Mate and could actually pull on all of that when it was necessary to fight him.

She’d put up a hell of a fight. He couldn’t believe just how much she didn’t want him to speak with her via the mind–link. He understood she’d been closing it out on purpose, and he’d been letting her over the past few weeks, but she did actually speak to him when he went to her room. The mind–link he thought was no

different to that.

Seems he was very wrong, but with Matt’s help he’d managed to connect to her. Though Matt looked

unhappy about it. “She does not want you inside her head,” he’d stated looked right at him.

“Why?” Jace asked.

“Likely because a mink–link connects one to the other’s emotions, and she doesn’t want you to even have an inkling of what she is feeling.” Matt shook his own head. “I was only able to help because Rosa actively tried to help stop you from keeping the mind–link open, and I could get to her wolf.”

“How was Rosa?” Jace asked right away.

“Angry, all I could do was calm her and make her submit to the Charm. The moment she did, you connected with Nora. I didn’t push Rosa to find out what she feels. There is no need, she’s not here most of the time. That is enough for all of us to know she’s disconnecting herself from you, your wolf and this pack.”

Jace sighed, “I’ve started the process of showing her, I want her to be the Luna. Now I need to get her to sit

and listen to me.”

“I wouldn’t do it today, Jace, leave that well enough alone, she’s likely fumingly mad up there at you forcing your will over her. Even though it was to show her that you’ve actively gotten rid of Gloria and informed the entire pack about it. She might even consider this something like you rolling your aura over her.”

“Great,” he muttered.

“One day at a time, that’s how this is going to go. You’ve got three weeks to work on her, even if you can just get her to come to the ceremony and not ignore it. That will show you, she’s willing to work on fixing your

bond.”

He’d just nodded. It was all he could do for now. She’d fought like crazy up there trying to deny him; her Mate and Alpha, who she had willingly pledged her loyalty to the day she’d arrived here. That was likely also very broken as well, so he would have to work on the pack as well as her, get them to see Nora as the future Luna and not just his Mate. “How bad do you think it looks to the pack?”

“What exactly?” Mark asked right back.

“The past few months, myself, Nora and Gloria. What do you think they make of it? I know there ha lot of chatter since her first trip to the pack hospital and destroying the Luna Suite” he asked the que didn’t know if he wanted an answer to.

“I don’t know,” was the response. “I guess the only way to know that would be to pull a few from each in th randomly and ask them. Though… I wouldn’t do it yourself, I’d have Matt do it and make them all female so he can sense the truth out of them.

Matt sighed, “Yay, that will be fun for me! All the fear of them telling the truth, then the fear of getting a punishment, if they state something that is seen as offensive, or refuse to state how they actually feel, How many are we talking about?” Matt muttered.

Jace knew why he was unhappy. No one was going to want to state anything bad about their Alpha, even if they thought it, and trying to lie about it when asked directly, could see them being punished.

He sat in his chair and thought about it for a long time. “Play a word association game with me, Matt,” he stated, and sat all the way up, as he realized there was an easier way to do it. Where no one would think

they’ll get punished.

“Sure.” Matt nodded.

“Beta?” he asked.

“Mark,” Matt answered without thought.

“Sky?” he asked.

“Blue.” Matt responded.

“Red head,” Jace asked with a bit of a smile.

“Betty.” He saw the man smirk a little, and knew he was picturing that little, very pretty elite warrior, who had glossy red hair and deep green eyes, that made nearly every male wolf in this pack wish she was their Mate.

“Luna.”

“Gloria,” Matt stated, and then just cursed into the room. “If I think that… the whole damned pack thinks that.”

Jace nodded. “I suggest the three of you go and pick a few pack members, say 10 each and go play the same game, work Nora’s name into it as well as the word Luna and let’s just see what comes back.”

The three of them nodded and got up to go and do as he’d requested, “All different ranks.” He reminded them. Though just from Matt’s response it was likely the word Luna was going to be associated with Gloria.

Jace got up and left his office and made his way to the Luna’s Office. The door stood open and as he walked in, he noticed there were no flowers in that vase anymore. Likely Gloria had dumped them in a bin

somewhere. He walked about the office and looked at it. Most of the things in here were still there. Likely it

was all Luna–related, and so Gloria couldn’t take it with her.

He took a moment to actually look at the books on the shelves and read the titles. They were all about Luna duties. He wondered if he should take a few of them upstairs and give them to Nora so that she could start reading them in prep for her being in this office.

Though he knew doing Luna Blessings for newborn babies probably wasn’t going to be something she wanted to do. It wasn’t really something he wanted to do right this very minute, too soon to want to be around something he’d lost. But it was now his duty.

Gloria was at least gone from the office. He sat himself at the desk and opened the desk draws one time. With the way Gloria had acted even with him, he wouldn’t be surprised if she’d left something in this

He sighed and wondered just how often that was going to be written on things, it read as though they were Mates. And it was his own fault, because he had instated her, even though she woodt his Mane Hell, he’d loved the woman and been confused about who he should actually be with. Then had tried to keep both, one as his Luna and one as his Mate, only to have it completely backdice on him. He knew what his mistake was now He’d been selfish, that is what he was. He wanted to have his cake and eat it too. Only that wasn’t how their world worked. It would be no different to a human being married and having a mistress.

He’d ruined his own Mate Bond himself, and now needed to fix it, but he had a feeling that Gloria wasn’t going to just disappear into the pack quietly either. And with a 60–year Luna reign under her belt, the pack was still going to be looking to her at times or bring her up. It wasn’t something he could control, but every time they did so around Nora, she was going to be mad about it.

It would be even worse, he knew, if they started comparing her to Gloria, if she did things differently or took more time to do things. He scrubbed a hand over his face, and got up. This whole office needed a deep clean, to rid it of Gloria’s scent and personal touches.

He mind–linked the pack’s head omega, Phil, and had him allocate two omegas to come and deep clean the Luna’s office, air it out and, if possible, rid it of Gloria’s scent as well.

“Do you want the curtains and rug all removed and washed or completely replaced with something new?” “New if you have it,” he stated, “I’ll look at buying new furniture, and get rid of the framed prints and anything to do with red roses,

He returned to his office and walked to his own bookshelf and pulled that Luna Ceremony folder off the shelf that Gloria had given him just after Nora destroyed the Luna Suite. It had been her way of trying to say she was sorry, and was still trying to help him out when, in fact, it was likely her way of getting him to keep her in that seat, by seeing her as willing to help him with Nora’s Luna Ceremony.

He looked through it now, and wondered if anything in there was even about Nora, if anything in this to der was her preference. Though the picture of Nora in that dress on the front page did match the colors in the

A mental image popped into his mind of her, and he saw it. That was not the dress she’d be The dress had been a soft blue. It was the same dress. Only the one in the photo had the odor altered and flowers placed over the dress. The base of the dress was blue but nothing else abren it was the

same.

Gloria was trying to get him to plan the Luna Ceremony in the wrong color, He would change everything from this book. As he looked through it, he saw that, yes, everything in here were all a color scheme, to match the dress right down to the linen and the flowers. Perhaps pack colors were a better option, a safer choice
