CH 50

Nora

Nora sat there wondering why he would ask that of her now. What was the point? And did she want to tell him? The answer was no. He had no right to know anything about her anymore. But she also knew she needed to take a step back from being so angry with him, and see him come to think that; she needed to give him something to work with.

“Perhaps you should ask me if I got my results first? Or am I still waiting for them? Before asking what grade I got.” she told him.

She watched him nod. “Of course, have the results come out yet?” he asked.

“Yes, on Monday the 12th at 4pm.” She told him and leaned back in her chair to watch him. She could see he was thinking about why she’d stated it that way. Which is what she wanted. There was a slight frown on his face, and she just waited. It took all of half a minute, and then he just sighed heavily and looked at her.

“That would be the day the allied packs arrived for the mating ball,” he murmured.

“That it would be.” She nodded. “Do you recall what you did that day? The day my end of year results came

out.”

She watched him close his eyes. “That’s why you had your phone with you that day.” He muttered and then looked right at her apologetically. “I’m sorry Nora, I didn’t know.”

“No, you didn’t.” she nodded “Because you never once cared to ask me about anything. Do you recall what you did? Or how I reacted to that very moment,” she looked about the room she was in. “What you said about me, that day? To your allied Alpha even?”

“I’m sorry.” He stated, “I didn’t know.”

“You’re sorry you didn’t know?” she asked, closing her laptop. He owed her a lot of apologies, and she was going to get them all, one by one if necessary.

“No, well yes. But I’m sorry for ruining your day.”

“Ruining my day? Is that all you did that day?” she prompted “You might want to think about it before speaking, because I don’t want to play 20 questions with you, just to get you to acknowledge all you did to hurt me that day, and forcibly drag apologies from you, one by one. An apology should be heartfelt and meaningful, not prompted.”

He was frowning at her, but she sat and stared at him as he thought about what he wanted to say, or maybe he was trying to figure out what he needed to say; she didn’t really care which it was. But it took several

minutes before he stated anything.

“Nora, I’m sorry that I didn’t know it was the day your results would come out, that I complained about what

you were wearing even when you came to meet our allied with me. I apologize for snatching your phone and destroying it. You are right, were right that day.

“I had no right to do that. I even saw your anger and sadness and blipped over it. That was unacceptable of me, not only as your Alpha, but as your Mate. Then I believe I added further insult to you by calling you childish, in front of Alpha Desmond and stated you’d not get a Luna Ceremony because of it.”

He sighed heavily. “All of which was unwarranted, I now see. I ruined something that was very important to

you, without a single thought as to why you would bring your phone to the meet and greet. I believe you even told me in the library you were waiting on something important prior to that.”

She nodded at him, because she had.

“I’m sorry Nora. I can only say I was frustrated with you at the time, for your lack of wanting to be around me, when I was trying to spend more time with you… Something I now also realize was all my own fault; your not wanting to be near me, and still I took it out on you. I am sorry. Please forgive me?” he asked softly.

“Why should I?” she asked right back. “Tell me why, I should, in your eyes, forgive you for that moment in my

life.”

He was just sitting there staring at her. “I probably can’t justify it in anyway in your eyes, in anyone’s, for that

matter. So, all I can do is apologize for my error… not ask you for your forgiveness but… hope that you can

find a way to forgive me, in time.”

She nodded. “I’ll think about it,” she stated. She had to give him room to breathe and think he was going to

get what he wanted.

“I would appreciate that, truly Nora I would… May I inquire as to the results you received?” He asked once

more.

“Do you really want to know, how badly you ruined my day, that day?” she asked in return.

“Yes.” He nodded. “How can I even try and make it up to you if I don’t know the extent of it?” Jace offered.

She looked around the room she was in. “This is the extent of it.” she waved a hand about “That was the

moment for me that I was done, putting up with everything from you. This room is the result of that one

moment topping off everything you did over the course of our entire mate bond.”

He sighed heavily, “Please Nora, I would like to know.”

She debated telling him what he wanted to know, because she didn’t want him to have that information, but it might see guilt come from him, and she did want that. It would help with achieving her plan. “I aced every subject. Got a perfect 4.0, that is what you ruined for me that day.” She told him simply, and there it was the guilt of what he’d actually done cross his face. “I couldn’t even call my parents and tell them about it, because you not only threw my phone, but you also crushed it completely.” She added more to his burden of guilt. “Then Jace what did you do, here in this very room to me later that night?” she asked him now.

He was looking at her with not just guilt now, but also with regret, she thought. “I rolled my Aura at you, injured you and caused you a concussion.” He murmured softly.

“Yes, you did.” She nodded. “Do you now understand why I moved out of the Alpha Suite?” she stated. “Do you know what I saw when I packed and moved out of it, and tried to think about where I could go, where is the

Alpha’s Mate supposed to go when they fight.”

Again, she saw guilt in him, but he said nothing.

“Say it,” she stated. “I want to hear you say it. Tell me exactly where I’m supposed to go. I believe there is actually a room designated for that very thing. What is it called, Jace? Where is it in this packhouse, and currently what does it say on that door?”

She watched his whole posture change to almost one of complete defeat. “The Luna Suite, and it’s across the hall from the Alpha Suite and… Currently, has Gloria’s suite written on it.”

“Correct, so even when leaving your room, I didn’t know where to go. I didn’t belong anywhere inside this pack, so being as far away from you, seemed the right thing to do. You can move your Luna back into that room anytime you like now.”

His eyes met hers once more. “I have made a grievous mistake where this is concerned, you are the future Luna, Nora, I will rectify it and please just… let me show you I can be the Mate you deserve. That is all I’m asking for, for you to give me another chance.”

“Would you if you were me?” she looked right at him, knowing no Alpha would put up with that kind of behavior from his Mate.

“Likely not…” he muttered and held up a hand to halt her next words. “But I am asking you to please, stay here, I will never do anything to harm or hurt you ever again. Maybe Nora, with time and you being able to see

I am truly genuine, Rosa might even see a way to coming forward once more.”

“Just something else you’re responsible for now, isn’t it! Her not being with me,” she nodded

“I have a lot to make amends for Nora. I’m fully aware of that. I have unseated Gloria and cleared out her office. The omegas are deep cleaning it as we speak.”

“Do you really think that if I stay, I will want to use that office? Knowing that every time you walked in there, you’d have memories of her? What 60 years of them, you’ve probably f****d her in that office a million times?”

“I’ll find you a new space, and we can look at outfitting it to how you want it. Would you like that?” he asked, ”

We’ll start over.” He smiled just a little at her, hopefully she thought.

“I don’t know to be honest, Jace. I don’t even know if I can forgive you. Even if I do, I’m not likely to forget everything now, am I?” she sighed herself.

“No, I suppose not. But perhaps with time, when we’re back to how we should be, you might be able to. I can

only hope for that outcome.”

“I’d like to be alone now. Looking at you still hurts. I need time to think about what it is I really want,” she told

him and moved her eyes away from him.

“Of course, I’d still like to have a private meal with you, will you consider it?” he asked as he stood up.

“I’ll think about it, but it won’t be today.” She answered without looking at him, and she heard him leave the

room. Her eyes moved to the door after he left, and a half smile touched her lips, so he was genuine about trying to make it work. That would definitely work for her. She’d already figured out Gloria from that mind–link
