CH 60
Nora.
She had him, and she knew it. For the first time in nearly five months, she had his undivided attention, and he was practically pleading with her to stay here and give him a chance. He was trying to keep her by his side, like she’d once done, only she’d lost. So, he would too, her heart was cold to his pleas.
He could say and do all those things, but it wouldn’t sway her into staying. She and Rosa alike had made up their minds to reject him. Nothing was going to stop them from doing so, it was all too little too late in their
books.
He was sitting before her, trying to get her not to leave. She got up and walked away from him. “After everything she’s done, do you really think, just moving her out of the packhouse and revoking her pack card is a fitting punishment?” she stated as she walked into her walk–in.
She walked out and held that Luna’s dress out to him. “You should take this back.”
“No,” he stated, and stood up. “That is your Luna Ceremony dress,”
“I don’t want to look at it,” she told him. “Put it in the Alpha Suite.”
“Nora please, I am trying very hard to ease your concerns.” He sighed.
“Hmm.” She looked at her arm, “If you can go a week without yelling at me, belittling me and talking down to me, or about me. Don’t lay a single finger on me or hurt me at all. Only then will I truly consider attending the Luna Ceremony.” She pushed that dress at him. “Until then, you keep the dress, I’ll collect it from your suite if
I’m willing to wear it,” she told him.
The day Gloria walked up there and took it from his suite, he would think she’d forgiven him, and they were
going to work things out. He was just standing there staring at the dress. He didn’t seem to want to take it at
all. “I also don’t want Gloria at that ceremony. If there is to be one,” she stated.
“Of course, I’ll make sure she is aware of it; I’ll send Mark over to have words with her about it.” he finally took
the dress from her. “I’ll not go near her, or speak to her in person and… I’ll look at sending her to another pack
if you like. If you think that will help, to make you feel secure here as my Mate and Luna.”
Now that was an interesting thought. “Which pack, an allied where you’d be able to see her at mating balls or allied assistance, alpha meetings?” she asked right back.
He sighed. “I don’t know, I’d have to think about it. Most around these parts know who she is and an unallied
could see harm come to her to get to this pack.”
“Better her than me, right?” she shot at him sarcastically and turned and walked away. “Do whatever you
want, Jace. You will anyway.” she banged into her bedroom, though she wasn’t mad, she just wanted him to
think she was. That was all.
He’d just stated he wanted to protect Gloria, when, if, as he had stated to her, he’d just found out about all her
deception around him and his Mate, to break their bond on purpose, he, as the Alpha to the p hould
want to rip her head off. But no, he didn’t want to do that. There was still an attachment there b…een them.
Which she did want to remain for now.
He connected a mind–link to her, ‘Nora, I’m sorry. But it is also my duty as the Alpha to make sure she doesn’t

come to harm wherever I send her. She has been a valued pack member for many years. No one in this pack has seen her do anything wrong. I can’t formally punish her without explaining why?‘
‘Right, you just don’t want them to see how much you actually disrespected your own Mate, in other words. But she still gets to maintain her status and the packs respect then.
‘Nora, please understand, once you’re seated as the Luna yourself, you may punish her for her crimes. I can’t,
however, right now, but the shift of power between the two of you will come when you take the Luna’s title
officially.’
‘There should never have been a need for a shift in power in the first place, she muttered.
‘Agreed, and that is my fault.‘ He sighed. ‘I’ll keep the dress for your ceremony in the Alpha Suite for you to come and collect when you are ready. I’ll leave you alone for the rest of the day, and we’ll discuss your
university studies tomorrow.’ He closed out the link.
She felt him leave her suite and smiled. She’d managed to get him to take that dress willingly himself to the Alpha Suite. She didn’t really care about what he did with Gloria and though a part of her wanted that she–wolf to be put on the shaming post and lashed for every pain of betrayal she’d felt, she wasn’t going to
ask for it.
She’d also never get it. Jace would never do it, because that would mean outing himself as an Alpha who not only didn’t care about his Mate but had willingly cheated on her, causing her pains of betrayal. He didn’t want the pack to know that. He was already furious with the possibility that Alpha Clayton knew about it.
She would put off telling Gloria that the dress was in the Alpha Suite for a few days, because she had a feeling that woman was going to go and get it right away. She needed it to stay there for him to look at, stare at and wondered if she would ever take him back. Have him think about losing her, and how to keep her by
his side all the time.
She left the suite later that evening to go and get something to eat in the dining room and a woman she didn’t know touched her on the arm, as she picked up a plate from the buffet table and Nora looked at her curiously.
“Luna, my name is Zelda. I own and run the pack’s formal dress wear boutique. I helped Alpha Jace with choosing those 12 dresses he presented to you the other day, not the first one though, I wasn’t there for that.”
“Alright.” She nodded. “What can I do for you?” she asked simply..
“It’s not what you can do for me. I was simply wondering if the dress you chose for your Luna Ceremony needed to be hemmed. It was quite long if I recall. I also do alterations and would be happy to help you with a dress fitting to make sure it fits you perfectly for the ceremony.”
“Mm, most she–wolves are taller than I am,” Nora stated with a nod. “But no, don’t do that. I could, I suppose, wear heels. That would mean no alterations need to be made.” She didn’t want that dress altered, it would be too short for Gloria if it was hemmed.
“Ah, now that you could. Would you like to come to the boutique and look at shoes? I have a whole section for shoes. Some I think would suit the occasion, a little bit of bling.” She smiled at her.
Nora thought about that as she saw Jace walking this way. He smiled at her, and she returou her attention to Zelda. “I don’t actually have any appropriate shoes to wear.” she nodded. “I guess I could come down and look in the morning.”

“Excellent, if you bring the dress we’ll match it completely.”
“I can do that,” Jace stated, “and we should look at a little hair bling,”
“I can go on my own,” Nora stated flatly, and she saw him frown instantly.
“Nora, please I’d like to see you in that dress and help you pick out shoes and bling for the day.”
“I’m certain you would.” She nodded only to have Zelda interrupt them.
PORE
“Now Alpha, you shouldn’t do that. Perhaps Nora wants to surprise you with something on the day. Not even human men see the bride in her dress before their big day.”
He sighed but nodded. “I do need to go into the city for some shopping myself,” he stated. “I’ll do that tomorrow.” He looked at Nora. “I want to get you something special just from me to you, a statement piece of jewelry.” He smiled at her “you don’t however wear jewelry, do you have a preference as to what you might like.”
“No. Get whatever you want,” she told him simply.
He frowned once more, but then it was gone a moment later. “May I join you for dinner? Since we’re both here?” he asked.
She looked about the dining room. There were actually many pack members in here, and she was certain that they were all ears as to what was going on between them, seeing as Gloria had not only been removed from office, but shunted out of the packhouse as well. “I suppose that is fine.” She nodded, she had to keep that man thinking he was going to get what he wanted.
She turned and got herself a meal, and walked over to sit at a table like she always did and saw him frown at her. It wasn’t the Alpha’s table. But she didn’t care to sit over there, didn’t bloody belong there, regardless of
him being her Mate.
She watched him open his mouth to say something and then seemed to think twice about it and just take a
seat next to her, at the table she’d chosen.
