CH 67
Jace
The days passed here inside the pack, and he’d managed to get Nora to have several meals with him, though none of them were in the private dining room like he wanted them to be. She was still declining to have a meal alone with him. That bothered him a great deal. The Luna Ceremony was only a few days away now, and she still barely let him touch her. A hand on the small of her back was all he was allowed. If he so much as tried to touch her bare skin, she pulled away from him and told him ‘don’t‘. Hydro was bothered by that, her reaction to them wanting to touch her.
He’d told Hydro it was all going to have to wait until after the Luna Ceremony, and they pledged their complete loyalty to her and Rosa, in front of the entire pack, her parents, her former Alpha and Luna. Only when it was seen by all, and she felt he really meant it, would she be willing to accept them back wholeheartedly.
He’d not treated her right, and without that pledge, under the weight of a full moon and in front of all, where he couldn’t deny he’d done it. Or he could ignore the fact that she was considered the pack’s Luna, would she
feel secure in her position. And that was his own fault.
She’d eyeballed Matt a few times. She knew when he was switched on and Jace had now asked him not to try and feel her out, it likely only ticked her off. Which Matt had admitted to him, that Nora wasn’t interested in him feeling her out. That there was no Gamma/Luna bond at all between them. It had been destroyed long ago by him being attached to Gloria, and he got the distinct impression she didn’t actually want one forming
either. She had no trust in the pack’s Gamma.
He’d only managed to pick up one thing from her over the past few weeks and that was that she didn’t feel like the pack Luna. He’d brought it to Jace and Jace had just sighed. It couldn’t be helped, only with the Luna Ceremony happening would she likely accept that she wasn’t just his Mate, but also his Luna. Until then, she was just his Mate and a regular pack member in her eyes.
He was trying to engage with her more and show her that he wanted them to work out. He went and tried to spend time with her, in between his duties and running his businesses. She’d stopped shutting down his mind–linking to her and was letting him speak to her at will. Which he did try to do a little more each day.
Today, he saw packing boxes being taken down the hallway towards her room, and he mind–linked right to the omega carrying them. ‘Why are you taking boxes down there?‘
‘The Luna requested them, said she would need to pack up her things for when she moved, Alpha. He’d been
told
‘When did she say she was moving?‘ he asked. He left out the where too, though he’d wanted to ask it.
‘After the Luna Ceremony, we were told. Came the reply.
That made him relax. ‘Alright, continue on,’ he stated, and dissolved the link. She was going to move back into the Alpha Suite after the Luna Ceremony. That was a full relief to him. He’d been hoping that would happen. He’d not wanted the pack to see them still–living apart after the ceremony, but he’d known it wa possibility.
She’d suffered an unknown amount of betrayal pains from him over all those months, and she still wasn’t
letting him even hold her hand, so pulling her into his bed on that night might not happen withe, She com well move into her study room once more and make him wait. He didn’t know, was hoping not.
He was hoping that she would allow their bond to start to be properly regrown and being together, sleeping together, having s*x would all help them bond, and he would show her in that bed just how much he wanted her, would be gentle with her and take it slow, tell her he loved her and wanted her.
Deny her nothing of her wants and needs, but deny himself everything he wanted until she was satisfied and asking him to take her, and even then, he would kiss her all deeply and slowly and keep his mating of her slow and loving; showing her she truly meant the world to him and his beast, that they loved and respected
her wishes.
He was now trying to decide on how to deal with her parents and her former Alpha and Luna when they got here. He knew her mother understood what had gone on between them, but he wanted them to see it wasn’t like that anymore, and they’d told Nora they’d come the day before the ceremony to see how she was doing.
Her Alpha and Luna were going to arrive on the day, and he still had no idea if they had been told of his monumental blunder and wondered if he should just bite the bullet and tell them. Apologize and let them know he’d rectified the error and was making amends. Or if he should just let it go altogether and, hopefully, they’d never know.
Her parents, however, were another matter; he was going to have to apologize to them for treating their daughter the way he had. He’d not talked to Nora about it, but now he knew he needed to. They would be here in just a few days, and he had no idea if she’d actually told them about being hit with the pains of betrayal or
not.
He scrubbed a hand over his face and Mark looked at him. “What’s the matter?”
“I have to go and talk to Nora about what she told her parents about what happened between us, so I know how to handle them. But I have a feeling she’s going to get angry with me. She’s not once brought it up in the past week, but before that… she just got angry about it. I don’t think she wants to be reminded of it,” he
sighed.
“Likely not, but it’s also probably best to get it out of the way.” Mark nodded. “Apologize for it.”
“I already have.” He sighed. He’d apologized many times to her now. There was nothing more he could do though. It was up to her to forgive him. Most Mates wouldn’t. She’d asked him if he would and his answer had been no. So, all he could do was continue to apologize. He’d never meant to do that to her. Hadn’t realized he was, or that Gloria touching him in any manner would also cause her pain.
He stood and walked up there to her room, and pressed the doorbell. She opened it and looked at him expectantly. He smiled at her. “Hi, I just wanted to talk about the meeting and greeting of your family when they get here. They’ll be coming the day before the ceremony.”
“Mm, to help me with getting ready.” She stated with a nod.
“May I come in so we can talk about how it will go?” he asked.
She frowned right at him but stepped back. “How it will go?” she asked, “Or how you want it to go?”
He let that one go. The last time they’d discussed this, he’d grabbed onto her and grated out harsh wc about her Alpha, knowing what was going on. “No, how it will go, I don’t exactly know what to expect from your family.”

“It’s just my mother and father. My sister is not coming off on some end–of–year trip that was organized and paid for, seeing as it’s been five months now, and you’ve decided finally to hold the Luna Ceremony. You know they were all expecting it months ago. So Nita can’t make it.”
He nodded and sighed softly, that was all on him, her sister now not being able to be here for this special day for her, yet again something that he’d done. “I’m sorry she won’t be here, she probably would have been if ro held it when i was supposed to.”
“Yes,” she stated simply, and went and sat down. She didn’t even beat around the bush about it being his
fault.
He let that one go as well. “I understand you talked with your mother about all that happened,” he stated, and sat down. “I guess what I’m asking is… do they know about everything, including… the pains of betrayal you inadvertently got from me?”
He didn’t want to state that he’d given to her, because he’d not meant for her to feel anything, and hadn’t even know she had been getting them. So inadvertently was the correct terminology in his mind. Though he saw her raise an eyebrow at his wording and he even knew why, because she’d seen him touch Gloria herself and felt the pains while looking at him doing just that. Not that he’d known about it.
She’d not even hissed in pain at seeing it, she had bitten down on it and hid it from him, from all those that would have seen him touch Gloria like that, and let them know she’d felt it. He wasn’t certain as to why she kept it from the pack. To save face or to not have him seen in a bad light, because she was trying to win him over and bring him to her.
“Mother is aware of them.” She stated, “I don’t know if she told father.” She shrugged, “So I don’t know what response you’ll get from either of them.”
Well, at least she was honest with him about it, bluntly so, and she seemed a bit on the uncaring side, but she wasn’t yelling at him or allowing the anger he’d seen about this subject to surface and start a heated
conversation.
“I’d like for us to present ourselves as a united front, be seen as coming back together. Seeing as you’ve willingly accepted my apologies and are happy for the Luna Ceremony to go ahead,” he put to her.
She just nodded slowly but said nothing, and he held in the sigh. “It’s only a few days away now,” he looked around the room and at the boxes they were packed and sealed a good sign, “I would also like to be seen holding your hand when they arrive so that they can see you’ve forgiven me and are accepting of me once
more.”
“Hmm, I think touching should wait until after you’ve pledged loyalty for all to see. To be completely honest with you, I won’t be allowing anything between us until I’ve not only heard the words, but I feel your full sincerity as well. Only then will you be allowed to lay hands on me. So, I will stand out there on the steps but…..
“You don’t want to even hold my hand,” he muttered.
“Would you before one’s loyalty is proclaimed if you were me?” she stated softly. “You have to understand Jace, you still came to my bed, seduced me into s*x, even when I was sleeping elsewhere; after you me from her. There was no loyalty from you to me. I’m pretty certain you only did it because you wanted with her and couldn’t be, without me likely screaming the packhouse down.”
He sighed now, “I never once thought of her when I was in bed with you.” He tried to reassure her, but he could

see now why she wouldn’t allow it. That was the first time she’d voiced those words in hin
she wouldn’t allow him to touch her and had always tried to sleep away from him, if she thought he touching and thinking of Gloria. Just one more thing he’d screwed up
