Nora was in her room just laying in her bed watching Netflix, when Jace connected a mind–link to her Nora

your Luna Ceremony dress, is that in your room with you, by any chance?‘ he asked, and she could hear a

little bit of fear and hope at the same time, she had him on tenterhooks, it seemed.

Her eyes moved to her Luna dress. It was hanging in her closet as it had always been, since she’d bought it. So she answered him with a question of her own. ‘Yes, why is there a problem with me having my Luna

dress?‘

‘No, of course not. I just didn’t know that you had come and collected it today, was all. You didn’t tell me you were going to.‘ She could now hear the smile in his voice. ‘I’m glad you’ve got it with you.

‘I just figured my mother and father would want to see my dress before the ceremony. She smiled to herself. Seems Gloria had finally gone and gotten that dress and likely that jewelry as well from the Alpha Suite.

He’d not left the pack once since buying that jewelry, and today he’d had to go into his head office for what he’d told her was an unavoidable meeting. And it seemed Gloria had found her opportunity to sneak into that

Alpha Suite and see the dress and jewelry on display as she knew it was.

That she–wolf was likely to have been fumingly mad about, it for several minutes, likely ranted in that suite, or

Nora liked to think so, before she’d just packed it all up and taken it back to her single dorm.

She already knew Jace had spoken to Gloria about her coming to the ceremony, because that b***h never

missed an opportunity to rub it in if she could. Had told her, Jace had stated to get all dressed up in her best

dress and look like the beautiful Luna that she was.

Nora hadn’t cared at all, had just stated ‘I’ll mind–link you myself when it’s time to make your entrance my

Luna, so you can humiliate me at will!’ and she’d cut the link.

Yes, it was just two days away now, her parents would arrive tomorrow and then the show would begin. No

one in this pack knew what was going to happen in that ballroom because she shared her plans with no one.

Only her mother and father, her former alpha and Luna knew of her plans to reject Jace, but they didn’t know

how it was going to come about.

Just that she would reject him under the full moon, it was likely her former Luna had an inkling as to what

she was planning, because, well, she was a Luna herself, and when other Lunas were used and humiliated to

the point they were just done, fireworks usually happened.

She smiled to herself as she lay there, in just 48 hours. She would get her revenge and be able to have Rosa

with her full–time. Live her life as she so chose to. No longer would she be bound to any Mate. She and Rosa

were going to be strong and independent, create a wealth of their own and be happy.

That last part, the happy; that was the ultimate revenge. There was nothing sweeter than the one that

regretted, tormenting, belittling and humiliating you at will, because they could. Had the power over you to do

so and enjoyed hurting you and making you suffer. There was nothing better than them getting to see you happy, living a carefree life that didn’t revolve around them. That you never thought about them a* because you’d moved on and away from them and what they’d done to you completely.

If he ever did see her later in life, she would be smiling and living it up, and she was going to do just that. She

wasn’t going to be looking for a second mate. Hell no. She was going to live her life to the fullest and the him. All he did to her just burned more strength into her.

Nora strolled downstairs that night after dinner and headed for the ballroom. There was a full orchestr is the mating ball, something Jace had organized, and she knew they were in there practicing She had a special request just for them. Or the string section anyway.

The music they were playing was soft and sweet, romantic, she thought as she walked into the ballroom, and she saw Jace in there standing listening. She’d not been feeling for him. She’d thought he was in his suite, seeing as he’d linked her about that dress. He turned and smiled at her as she strolled across the dance

floor.

“Stop there,” he stated, and then walked over to her. “Practice dancing with me.” He smiled down at her and

held his hands out to her.

She thought about saying no, but then pushed it aside and nodded. He likely needed the extra nudge to really hit him where it hurt. “Alright,” she stated, “Be warned, I’m more of a single dancer, better on my own, than ballroom dancing.”

“That is perfectly fine.” He smiled. “I can teach you,” he stated, and slipped a hand into hers and dropped one to her waist. “I’ve a century of experience up my sleeve.” He pulled her in close to him.

“Yes, your old.” She nodded and saw him frown at her, and she burst out laughing. It was an insult, but also the truth, and her laughing made him chuckle as well. She also heard several of the wolves over there in the orchestra snort fully amused, it appeared they all thought she was teasing him playfully.

“You tease me, Nora.” He chuckled softly. “I like that.”

“I thought it was funny.” She nodded. “Aren’t we too close for ballroom dancing,” she stated as he stepped

them to the music.

“It’s never too close when it comes to you and I.” he murmured softly. “Thank you for dancing with me.”

“I wouldn’t want to embarrass you or humiliate you by stepping on anyone’s toes.” She stated, she had basic knowledge. Her home pack did hold dance classes at the high school so they could learn to attend proper etiquette at some of the more formal packs, which held mating balls like actual real world gala events.

“Ah you’re not so bad at this.” he smiled down at her, as he moved them about on the dance floor.

The song ended, and he was still holding her, “Again.” He smiled down at her.

“No. I have something I need to do. I just came to see what you were doing?” she asked. “I was curious as to why you were in here at this hour.”

“Just making sure everything was in order,” he stated, and let her go as she released her hand from his.

“It looks to be.” She nodded as she looked about the room. He’d stated he’d gone with pack colors, and he’d not even realized that in doing so, this room was tailored to Gloria herself. Red roses had green leaves, and those tables were laid out with blue, red and green. In that order, a blue table cloth that dropped to the floor with a red lace overlay and then red chair covers with dark green napkins laid out, and dark green bows tied

around the chairs.

To her, it screamed Gloria, and she wondered if that woman had chosen to always have red roses by green leaves for everything because of this very thing. So that any Luna Ceremony that wasn’t would still look to be tailored to her anyway. She was cruel and manipulative enough to do so, Nora thought,

She looked at him as he just stood there. He wasn’t going to go away and she knew it but didn’t want hi know what she was up to. She needed to have him leave this ballroom. “Jace, I thought we might have later supper tonight, together”

“I would like that,” he nodded, and she saw him look at his watch. “I can go and organize it, a meal, perhiago In the private dining room.” He offered. She knew it was something he wanted, and he still asked her every day about having a private meal with him.

Did she really want to eat alone with him? The answer was no, but she nodded. She’d faken one for the team before, so to speak. Though this would only be food, “I’d like cake.” She told him simply.

He nodded and, before she knew what was happening, he’d yanked her into him and was hugging her, and it took all her willpower not to recoil and yank herself away from him; to stand there and let him hold her close like that. It wasn’t something she wanted at all. It kind of turned her stomach.

“You make me very happy.” He told her and then let go a moment later, “I’ll meet you there in what? 10

minutes?”

She just nodded and watched him stride away. She shook her head a little and turned to the orchestra. They were all smiling at her. They were as blind as he was. She smiled at them and walked over. “I have a special request, a piece of cello music that has meaning for myself and your Alpha. I’d like you to please practice it but not spoil the surprise, and I’ll raise a hand to you when I want you to play it. It will likely be before the speeches are made. Just wait for my queue, I’ll look right at you as well.” She told them and showed them how she’d raise her hand.

“Yes Luna.”

“Now it’s going to be a bit on the dark side, but…” she chuckled softly, adding a little shyness to her words.” That’s our thing in the bedroom, shh don’t tell him I told you that,” she whispered to them “but I want him to hear it and know it’s all me, something I’ve done just for him. So he understands what’s to come at the end of the night, if you get my meaning.” And she saw that they did.

She smiled after handing them a USB drive. “The song is on there for you to listen to, and so is the sheet music. I know how good you all are. I have no doubt you’ll make it perfect. Hit those notes with full meaning and clarity.” She smiled at them and headed off to go and eat with Jace.
